The Quint’s poll yatra has reached Haryana’s Adampur where the BJP has given a poll ticket to TikTok sensation Sonali Phogat.
With close to 1.5-2 lakh followers on the social media platform, Phogat is confident of winning in the Assembly poll scheduled on 21 October. She says she will not quit acting and Tiktok if she becomes an MLA.
Adampur is Bhajanlal clan's stronghold. Bhajanlal's son Kuldeep Bishnoi is contesting against Phogat on a Congress ticket.
Is it true that you got a BJP ticket because of TikTok?
No, that is not true. I have been a BJP worker for the last 12 years. I have been working closely with the party for a long time and so I got the ticket from Adampur.
How difficult is the fight against Bhajanlal’s son Kuldeep Bishnoi going to be?
Nothing is impossible for the BJP. Congress has been ruling for all these years. A humble tea-seller’s son is now the country’s prime minister. Similarly, in Adampur, a farmer’s daughter is contesting against an influential family. The people of Adampur are going to show them a repeat of 2014.
Will you quit TikTok and acting if you win?
No, definitely not. I have been associated with the BJP for 12 years. But I have been acting for the last 20 years. If I become an MLA, that will obviously keep me more occupied but I will not give up acting or TikTok.
If you become an MP, what will your 3 topmost priorities be?
Since I’m from Hisar, my topmost priority will be to solve Hisar’s water shortage problem. I will also work on electricity shortage in Hisar.
