The Quint's 2019 Lok Sabha election coverage reaches Haryana where we ask young men and women about their issues and their expectations from the next government. Pavan Mual, a student of MSc Economics says, "Whether it is BJP for the last five years or Congress before that, basic education facilities have been missing from Haryana. In government schools, all you get is porridge, not education."

Amarjit Kurtatu, a PhD student echoes the sentiment and says, "First and foremost, the issue is unemployment. Secondly, no major policy has been announced for labourers in the village." Mass communication students also spoke up about key issues disappearing and communal issues taking "centre stage."

"Our students want leaders to focus on 'real issues' and not caste or religion," says Deepak Yadav, a mass communication student.

Commenting on BJP's campaigning strategy, Sakshi Soni, another mass communication students says, "The current government is campaigning on the plank of army, caste and religion. They don't talk about unemployment. PM Modi isn't accountable. He hasn't held a single press conference. Instead of focusing on development, the government's focus in on renaming cities."

Haryana will vote on 12 May.
