Indian Air Force rescued a stranded American trekker Margaret Allen Stone from the Ladakh region.

In the afternoon hours of 26 September, the IAF was requested by the US Embassy through Ministry of Defence to help and locate the long stranded US citizen.

Margaret had set out for trekking but was stranded due to injury near the Zhinchan area, about 75 kms from Leh since 6 September. With the help of civil administration, the IAF began search operations immediately and was successful in spotting the exact location of Stone in the valley.

Because of lack of care, she was found in a critical condition. In an official tweet, IAF said Stone was brought safely to the Leh hospital by the evening of 26 September.
