Two people were arrested on Friday, 6 December, for allegedly shooting a 22-year-old woman in the face because she stopped dancing at a marriage function in Uttar Pradesh’s Chitrakoot, police said, according to PTI.

The dancer, Hina, sustained a bullet injury in her jaw and two others sustained pellet injuries during firing at the function, held to celebrate the wedding of the daughter of village head Suhir Singh Patel on 30 November, Superintendent of Police Ankit Mittal said.

‘Goli Chal Jayegi’

In the video, the woman, part of a dancing group, is seen standing on the stage with a co-dancer, when a man, allegedly drunk is heard saying "Goli chal jayegi" (shots will be fired) if she doesn't carry on with the dance.

Another man is then heard saying, “Bhaiya, aap chala hi do goli” (brother, you should go ahead and shoot). Few moments later, in what took everyone by surprise, the woman is shot in the face, leading to massive ruckus at the venue.

According to an NDTV report, the groom’s relatives were also injured in the firing.

The report says that the man was a relative of the village head. An FIR was filed by the groom's uncle against an unknown man.
