As flood-ravaged Kerala limps back to normalcy, the state government and district authorities are being praised for the facilities that they are providing to the people in relief camps, reported The News Minute.
A three-member team of United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) visited a relief camp in Kerala’s Alappuzha district on Friday, 24 August and praised the authorities for providing good service to the people.
Banku Bihari Sarkar, part of the three-member team and emergency officer at UNICEF wrote in the visitor’s diary that it was the best relief camp he had seen in 20 years of his career.
State government and the district administration is doing exemplary work. This is worth documenting and sharing widely for others to learn from Kerala. I have been highly impressed.Banku Bihari Sarkar wrote in the diary.
He also mentioned that the camp was safe, and that good food was being provided in the camp.
The Alappuzha district collector took to Facebook to share the accomplishment.
Kerala is still reeling from the worst floods in a century, having suffered damages to the tune of Rs 20,000 crore, along with loss of life in hundreds.
