A picture of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has been doing the rounds on the internet showing her in the hospital on a ventilator, but the photo is fake.

With constant updates about Amma’s health that keep pouring in, people started circulating a photo that was taken in Peru in 2009.

The fake picture of Jayalalithaa started getting circulated after DMK President M Karunanidhi demanded that the government and Apollo Hospital should release a photograph of her, to assure public of her bettering health.

Taking a closer look and knowing the truth behind the photo will make anyone realise it isn’t the Chief Minister on the hospital bed, but with the rumours swelling around her health, it’s understandable why so many people were convinced of its authenticity.

Jayalalithaa has been admitted in the Main Block of the Greames Road hospital. Security has been upped since her admission, with police posted within and outside the hospital premises.
