Bihar Auto Driver Held for Raping 5-year-old on Pretext of Joyride
Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi was seen walking away from reporters when asked about the Darbhanga rape
A five-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by an auto-rickshaw driver on Friday, 6 November in Darbhanga district of Bihar, after he invited her for a ‘joyride’ in his auto and later dumped her in a secluded area, police said on Saturday.
The incident took place in Kharua More locality late Friday night.
Senior Superintendent of Police Babu Ram said that one Tettar Sahni had been arrested for abducting and raping the minor, who is currently being treated at a hospital.
“The girl was playing along with another three-year-old close to the place where the three-wheeler was parked. Sahni started the vehicle, telling the girls that he would take them for a joyride but soon dropped the three- year-old at a nearby spot before raping the survivor at a secluded place,” the officer said.
Cops told ANI that the girl was found weeping with blood spattered on her legs. After waiting for her for a few hours, the parents reportedly started searching and found their daughter in a garden in a secluded place.
She was shifted to a hospital with the help of the cops, once they were alerted about the incident.
Deputy CM Evades Questions
While Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi evaded queries from journalists in Patna on the incident, RJD leaders Lalu Prasad, Rabri Devi and Tejashwi Yadav vented their ire at the senior BJP leader, as well as CM Nitish Kumar for rising incidents of crimes against women.
The incident, coming close on the heels of charred bodies of unidentified woman, dumped after suspected rape and murder, being recovered in Buxar and Samastipur districts earlier this week, sparked outrage.
