As the state of Rajasthan braces itself for the upcoming polls on 7 December, Congress leader and state President Sachin Pilot during an interaction on NDTV's Townhall, commended state Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje for standing against BJP chief Amit Shad like "nobody else in the party."

Pilot had earlier claimed that there were "differences" between Raje and Shah as the duo rarely shared the same stage. The 41-year-old Congress leader’s remarks came after he was asked to state "two good things" about Raje during the interaction with NDTV.

“What she did is to show Amit Shah his place. Nobody in the BJP has been able to do that. She actually stood her ground and for 75 days, that cold war went on.”

The “cold war” as termed by Pilot, indicated to the period when the BJP in Rajasthan failed to choose a president following Ashok Parnami’s resignation in April this year. In the 75 days after Parnami’s resignation, several media reports had speculated friction between Shah and Raje over their own preferred presidential candidate.

However, dismissing reports of differences among the two BJP leaders, party's election in-charge for the state Prakash Javadekar said that the "communication gap" has been sorted out following the appointment of Madan Lal Saini as the new president, PTI reported.

While highlighting the second “good point”, Pilot said that Raje, as an individual and a party member, is well-respected.

“She’s a woman who we all respect as an individual.”

The leader also added that Raje has made several promises but failed to deliver them.
