Too many questions remain unanswered in the Pradyumn Thakur murder case.

Varun Thakur, father of seven-year-old Pradyumn Thakur who was murdered in the bathroom of Ryan International School, Gurugram, said that a Haryana cabinet minister had asked him and his wife not to demand a CBI probe into their son’s murder, reports ANI.

Rao Narbir Singh, the minister in question, had allegedly visited Pradyumn’s home after the incident, and told his parents to ‘trust’ the local police investigation, since the CBI probe would take a lot of time.

Thakur said that despite the Minister’s ‘request’, he had responded saying that if the police probe led to the same results as the CBI probe, they would trust it, but that they first demanded a CBI probe.

Varun Thakur, father of Pradyumn Thakur, told ANI that Singh had told him and his wife not to demand a CBI probe into their son’s murder.

Haryana Minister Rao Narbir Singh came to us and asked not to insist on CBI inquiry as it will take time, and trust the Police probe. I said if CBI also comes to the same conclusion as Police, then we will accept it, but we want the CBI probe first.

Singh, in turn, has responded to the allegation by stating that he was only following standard procedure, because no government can order a CBI probe on day of the incident, according to him. He added that he had also told the parents to wait for a week of police investigation and that if they didn’t think it was good enough, they could then demand a CBI probe.

I had just said that no government can recommend CBI inquiry on same day of the incident, I told the victim’s family to let Police probe for a week or so, if you are not satisfied, then will recommend CBI.

Haryana Police has been hauled over the coals for a botched investigation, as it wrongly convicted bus conductor Ashok Kumar, without any evidence, and the CBI maintains the real culprit is a Class XI student of the same school.

Considering that, Singh’s alleged call for the victim’s parents to trust the police investigation doesn’t look too good for the Haryana government.

Haryana Chief Minister Khattar had ordered a CBI probe into the case on 15 September.
