RLD declared all three Lok Sabha candidates from UP, President Ajit Singh will contest from Muzaffarnagar.
The Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), on Monday, 19 March declared all three Lok Sabha candidates from the state of Uttar Pradesh, including party president Chaudhary Ajit Singh, who will contest the elections from Muzaffarnagar constituency.
Apart from the party president, Jayant Chaudhary has been named as the RLD candidate from Baghpat and Narendra Singh will contest from Mathura.
The names were announced in a letter signed by president Chaudhary Ajit Singh himself.
RLD will be contesting the Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh in an alliance with Samajwadi Party (SP) and Mayawati’s Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).
Amid speculation that Congress might also join the SP-BSP alliance, the Congress said that it will leave seven seats in UP for SP-BSP. However, BSP Chief Mayawati, on Monday, said that Congress should not create confusion by forcibly trying to leave seats for the ‘gathbandhan’ (alliance).
SP President Akhilesh Yadav also said that the SP-BSP-RLD alliance is capable enough to defeat BJP on its own, without help from the Congress.
