BJP Dubs Rahul’s Trip to Kailash Mansarovar “Obsession With China”
Congress in its statement said that Rahul Gandhi has gone to Kailash Mansarovar after a near-fatal accident in May.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday, 31 August said that Rahul Gandhi left for China via Nepal, adding that the Congress president is “obsessed” with China.
“Rahul ji has an obsession for China. Why is it that Mr Gandhi always wants to get a Chinese view on everything but does not want to have an Indian perspective,” said Sambit Patra, senior BJP leader.
Patra further said the Congress chief is behaving like China’s spokesperson. “If Mr Gandhi wanted an Indian perspective on Doklam, since Mr Gandhi has an obsession for Doklam and China, he should have come to the Ministry of External Affairs, approached the National Security Advisor or foreign secretary.”
“You (Gandhi) have gone to your favourite destination and favourite country. We want to know who Rahul Gandhi is meeting and what will he discuss. We hope Congress party answers this,” BJP’s spokesperson said.
However, the Congress clarified that Rahul Gandhi has gone to Kailash Mansarovar, an autonomous territory in Tibet, China, after meeting with a near fatal accident during Karnataka elections.
In response to Patra’s claims, Congress MLA Randeep Singh Surjewala said, “Why is the BJP and PM Modi so perturbed by Rahul Gandhi's trip to Kailash Mansarovar? Do they not know where Kailash Mansarovar is? Do they not know that Kailash Mansarovar is in the autonomous region of Tibet, China?”
Surjewala further wrote in his tweet that the Congress chief had vowed to undertake the “arduous and spiritual journey” to Kailash Mansarovar after a near-fatal air accident that was averted during Karnataka elections “which now stands confirmed by the DGCA report”.
“It is indeed sad and tragic that BJP is insulting the abode of Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati by such cheap political tactics. We pray that Mahadeva shows them the path of enlightenment to cleanse their minds and souls from the vile hatred,” Surjewala tweeted.
Meanwhile, the Chinese Embassy in India had sought permission from Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) for a temporary pass to enter IGI Airport for Zhou Yuyun, the counsellor of China’s embassy, to see off Rahul Gandhi, ANI reported.
