Congress scion Rahul Gandhi turned 47 on Monday and Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to wish him. “I pray for his long and healthy life,” he wrote.

Rahul Gandhi had flown to Italy last week citing the desire to spend time with his 93-year-old grandmother. He drew flak for leaving the country as the presidential polls loom close and parties are announcing their nominees for the same.

President Pranab Mukherjee's term expires on 24 July. If an election is necessary, voting will be held on 17 July and the results will be declared on 20 July.
