1. Hijack Drama: A’bad Police Bring Jeweller To Mumbai, Raid His Office

The Mumbai jeweller who placed a hijack-threat note aboard a Delhi-bound flight on Monday, sparking an emergency landing, was booked under the new stringent antihijacking law on Tuesday and briefly brought to Mumbai for a search of his Zaveri Bazaar office.

Investigators from Ahmedabad — where the Jet Airways flight landed and where the case is registered — seized three laptops from Birju Kishore Salla's office. He was flown back to Ahmedabad on a late-night Jet Airways flight.

2. City May Add An Extra 10,000 Sq Ft Of Public Space In Bandra (W)

The city stands to gain 10,000 sq ft of additional public space if an ambitious BMC plan to build an underground parking lot under a public garden and ease congestion on Linking Road in Bandra (West), converting it into a dream hub for shoppers, reaches fruition.

The master plan for the underground parking lot and shopping plaza under Bandra's Raosaheb Patwardhan Park has been prepared for the BMC by consulting architect Hafeez Contractor. It states that the idea is to create additional public spaces for the city and thereby create safe shopping streets conducive to good retail. This plan is yet to receive an in-principal approval from the corporation.

3. Mahim Man Arrested For Raping 16-yr-old Girl Since She Was Six

A 46-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly raping a minor girl over aperiod of ten years. According to the 16-year-old victim, the man had been sexually abusing her since she was six.

Based on the complaint filed by the girl's mother, Mahim police registered a case against the accused who runs a small shop in Mahim. "The accused is a relative of the girl and had been frequenting her house. He had allegedly been sexually molesting her since 2007. According to the girl's statement the last incident of rape was as recent as October 22," said a senior officer from Mahim police station.

4. Evict Darades From Bungalow, Sena Tells BMC

The Shiv Sena on Tuesday demanded that the BMC ask IAS officer Pravin Darade and his IRS officer wife Pallavi to vacate the sea-facing BMC bungalow on Malabar Hill that the couple resides in.

Sena Mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar is currently hunting for a suitable home.

Pravin has been occupying the Malabar Hill bungalow since December 2014, when Pallavi, an Indian Revenue Service officer, was posted to the BMC as additional municipal commissioner. The opposition in the BMC, led by the Congress’s Ravi Raja, has also demanded a probe into the allotment and demanded that the BMC take back control of the bungalow.

5. Electronic Giant Eyes 200 Hectares At JNPT

Foxconn, a Taiwan-based multinational electronics contracts manufacturing company, is eyeing 200 hectares of land at the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust as it is keen to set up a billion-dollar plant, sources said.

JNPT is a shipping port off Mumbai and accounts for a huge chunk of India’s import-export trade.

Confirming the development, JNPT chairperson Anil Diggikar said, “Foxconn has requested 200 hectares and we will examine the file.’’

Senior government officials had earlier revealed that the Indo-Chinese standoff at Doklam had led to the delay in setting up of the project.

6. Only 86 Show Interest In Mhada's Expensive Houses At Lower Parel

The two most expensive houses of MHADA at Lower Parel have got a mild response, as only 86 applicants showed interest in buying them. But interestingly, there were a total of 9,145 applications for just eight houses in the economically weaker section (EWS), bringing back the importance of affordable housing in the city. The MHADA's delayed lottery for houses received 63,864 applications for 819 houses.

The two costliest MHADA houses are in Lower Parel's City View apartment, measuring 475 square feet and are priced at a whopping Rs 1.95 crore each. The eight EWS houses are within Rs 25 lakh for each. The MHADA lottery will be drawn on November 10.

7. Woman Assaults Man For Groping Her Friend At Lokhandwala Market

An apparently inebriated man groped a woman at the bustling Lokhandwala Market in Andheri on Friday night. Her colleague, who happened to be accompanying her at the time immediately gave chase and slapped him twice while threatening him with dire consequences should he repeat the act.

According to The Times of India, the woman who is a media professional and her colleague both of whom are in their 20s entered the Lokhandwala market near Rhythm restaurant on Friday around 10 pm. A shabbily dressed man approached them from the opposite direction.

8. Visitors Can Now Tour Raj Bhavan In Battery-Operated Vehicle

Maharashtra Governor C Vidyasagar Rao on Tuesday inaugurated the service of a battery-operated vehicle, which will now provide a tour of the Raj Bhavan to
the visitors. The vehicle has been offered by the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC). A statement issued by the MTDC said the initiative has
been taken for the comfort and security of tourists.

"The government is now looking to further develop the tourist attraction owing to an increase in the number of tourists at the Raj Bhavan," the statement said.
State Tourism Minister Jaykumar Rawal said the battery-operated vehicle has been offered to enhance tourism experience and create a wide visibility for the heritage site in Mumbai.
