1. Noida: BHEL Engineer Booked Over Husband’s Suicide

A BHEL engineer and her family members have been booked for allegedly abetting the suicide of her husband, who jumped off a high-rise building in Noida. The 39-year-old man jumped off the 10th floor of his residence around 10 am on Monday, 4 November.

Police suspected it to be suicide, and the man’s family submitted a complaint the next day against his 32-year-old wife and her family, for allegedly torturing him mentally and physically.

“An FIR was filed under IPC section 306 (abetment of suicide) against the woman, her parents and two brothers. The man’s family alleged the woman’s family would harass him over the couple’s financial issues. They claimed he was tired of the continuous torture. We will take statements of the accused family members and make arrests accordingly,” said an officer from Expressway Police Station.

2. West Delhi: Couple Stabbed Outside Convenience Store by 2 Men

A young couple’s visit to a convenience store early Tuesday morning took a turn for the worse when they were stabbed by two unidentified men in West Delhi. Police said the man and the woman were rushed to a nearby hospital and discharged the same day.

Police said that around 5:30 am, the 29-year-old man and his 28-year-old girlfriend went to a store to buy snacks when two men standing outside the store allegedly passed a lewd comment at the woman. DCP (West) Deepak Purohit said, “When the accused passed these comments, it led to an argument… both the man and the woman were allegedly stabbed by the accused.”

3. Gujarat: Two Arrested in Former BJP MLA Jayanti Bhanushali Murder Case

In a major breakthrough in the investigation of the murder of BJP leader Jayanti Bhanushali, a team of Gujarat police tracked down and arrested a woman and her male friend Surjit Pardeshi alias Bhau from Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh late Monday. The woman and Bhau are alleged key co-conspirators who helped Bhanushali’s political rival Chhabil Patel hire contract-killers from Maharashtra who allegedly shot Bhanushali dead onboard a moving train in January this year.

“We arrested them from Allahabad yesterday (Monday). We are going for their transit remand. Once we get it, we shall get them. Our Railway police team is there. They are producing them before a court. Once that is done, they will be brought to Gujarat late night or in a day or so,” Ashish Bhatia, Director General of Police CID (crime and railways) of Gujarat told The Indian Express on Tuesday, 5 November.

4. Udaipur Man Drags Dog Tied to Back of Car, Booked

A man has been booked under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act for allegedly tying a dog behind his car and dragging him for several metres in Kelva area of Rajasthan’s Udaipur district.

The police were alerted after a video, likely shot in Shobagpura area in the city five days ago, went viral. The dog’s body was found in the same area on Friday night.

According to police, the accused, Babu Khan claimed that found the body of stray dog outside his garage and tied it to the back of his car to dispose it in the forest, when someone shot the video.

Some locals, however, alleged that the dog was alive at the time of the incident.

5. Noida: Retd Bank Manager’s House Burgled in Sector 36

The house of a retired bank manager in Sector 36 was reported burgled on Monday, 4 November by an unidentified person when the family was away. Valuables, including jewellery and cash, together worth nearly Rs 6 lakh were reported stolen, the police said.

Victim and complainant Vinay Kumar, who lives with his family in block B of Sector 36, said that according to the CCTV footage, the incident occurred around 2:20pm.

“We had left around 11 am and came back around 4 pm. We saw that the main lock of the house had been broken and the rooms were ransacked. The burglars decamped with jewellery and cash, but did not take any of the large valuable home appliances or electronic items,” Kumar said, adding that valuables worth nearly Rs 6 lakh were taken.

6. Food Delivery Man, 4 Others Arrested for Assaulting Customer in Chennai

On Sunday, 3 November, city police detained five persons including a deliveryman of food aggregator Swiggy in Tamil Nadu capital Chennai for assaulting a customer after an argument over late delivery of an order, said police.

According to police, a Swiggy customer named Balaji on Sunday night placed an order and he also raised a complaint with the company's customer care department over delayed delivery.

When the food delivery person delivered the food at Balaji's residence, an argument began and resulted in physical assault.

The deliveryman, D Rajesh Khanna called his friends who assaulted Balaji.

Balaji later lodged a police complaint.

7. 17-Year-Old Found Dead on Train Tracks in UP, Family Suspects Foul Play

A body of a 17-year-old girl was found under suspicious circumstances on the Delhi-Howrah rail track in Uttar Pradesh's Auraiyya district, railways officials said. The girl had apparently been run over by a train on Monday, 4 November, Her family has alleged foul play.

After a video showed a Railway Police officer using a shovel to remove the prices of the body from the tracks, which further mutilated the body, an inquiry has been promised by the Government Railway Police and action against the guilty officer.

The girl, a student of class 12, had reportedly gone to attend her coaching class. Locals informed the police that the girl was run over by a train.

8. Architect Molested by 6 Men in Delhi's Sainik Farms, Case Filed: Police

A woman architect was allegedly molested and assaulted by six unidentified men at an upscale colony in south Delhi, police said on Monday, 4 November.

The woman, who lives with her husband and two children at Sainik Farms, was on her way home from office around 7 pm on Sunday, the police said.

According to the complainant, who works at a firm in the same colony, five-six men stood in front of the car. When she rolled down the window and asked them to move aside, one of them rushed towards her all of a sudden and groped her.

"I was shocked and couldn't understand what had happened," the woman said. "Another man joined him and molested me. And, after I tried to resist, they punched me on my face and pulled my hair."

9. Andhra Serial Killer, Who Murdered 10 People in 2 Years with Cyanide-Laced 'Prasadam', Arrested

The Andhra Pradesh Police on Tuesday, 5 November, arrested a serial killer who allegedly murdered ten persons over the last two years by giving them cyanide-laced 'prasadam'.

Vellanki Simhadri alias Shiva resorted to the killings in Krishna, East Godavari and West Godavari districts between February 2018 and 16 October this year.

West Godavari Superintendent of Police Navadeep Singh announced the arrest at Eluru on Tuesday evening.

The police investigations revealed that after suffering losses in real estate business, Simhadri started cheating with claims of possessing supernatural powers. He used to con people in the name of hidden treasure and precious stones and would promise to double their gold.
