QCrime: Serial Chain Snatcher Duo Nabbed, Drug Peddler Arrested

1. Undertrial Killed Inside Hospital’s Prisoner Room

In a strange incident, an undertrial was allegedly killed by another undertrial inside a hospital’s prisoner room. The deceased, as per the police had just undergone a surgery at the North Bengal Medical College Hospital.

As per the hospital officials, the victim undertrial Upen Burman was in judicial custody but had been brought over to the hospital for an operation of his leg. Later, Burman was killed inside a room by another undertrial, Nikhil Roy, staying in the room, which was not manned by police personnel. After initial attempts, Roy finally gave himself up to the police, admitting to the crime.

2. Angry Youth Tries to Kill Married Couple With Knife

A couple were attacked by a man with a sharp knife which has left both of them injured. The accused, Manoj Gupta is said to be the girl, Angoora Devi’s ex-boyfriend who did not like her getting married to one Virendrapal, 20 last week.

Police said that Manoj saw Angoora at her maternal home, barged into their house and attacked both of them with an intent to kill her.

3. Serial Chain Snatcher Gang Caught in Pune

In a big catch for the crime branch of Pune, a chain snatcher gang has been arrested from who valuables worth more than Rs 12 lakh were recovered. This gang has thereby helped the police solve over 20 cases of snatching.

The accused duo first interacted when they were in Tajola prison and came out stealing items from people.Both of them were caught via CCTV footage which showed them riding on a while motorcycle at different spots.

4. Three Taken Into Custody by Police for Dalit Woman’s Murder in Kerala

Three people have been taken into custody by the police in Kerala for the alleged rape and murder of a 30-year-old Dalit woman in the region. Widespread protests and march were organised by students and activists. The woman, who was said to be a law student belonged to a poor family, was fatally assaulted using sharp-edged weapons.

5. Duo Loot and Beat up Businessman in UP

A businessman was beaten up by a couple of men, who also looted his house and ran away with Rs 27 lakh in cash and jewellery. It is being said that the cause of the attack on Mohan Swaroop Gupta could have been an old rivalry.

Interestingly, the victim’s wife and son were not harmed during the attack. The family is yet to file an official complaint as per the police.

6. Youth Killed in Punjab, Two Arrested by Police

A 22-year-old youth was kidnapped and brutally murdered over an old enmity, following which two people have been arrested in Amritsar, police said.

Karanbir Singh’s body was found today from an agricultural field on the outskirts of the city, they said.

7. Trio Arrested for Robbing Temple Men

Three men have been arrested for allegedly robbing courier delivery men in the early hours of the morning. The trio was caught with valuables that are destined to reach the Shirdi temple. As per the police, the accused trio, Sheshnath Upadhyay, Haider Shaikh and Bipin Bisht kept an eye out for the delivery men and robbed them at point blank.

It is said that the robbers used to enjoy lavishly with the money stolen and also donate some of it to the temple.

8. Domestic Help Arrested for Stealing Money From Govt Contractor’s House

A domestic help has confessed to having stolen the money in a garbage bin in the house. However, the accused, Geeta was initially fooling the cops by telling them that it was three men in masks who had run away with the money.

As told to the police, Geeta was looking for the right moment to run away with the valuables which she had stolen owing to a bitter relation between her mother and contractor, whose place Geeta’s mother has been working for a long time.

9. Woman Drug Peddler Arrested with 4.8 Kg Marijuana

A drug peddler has been arrested and 4.8 kg of marijuana was recovered from her house in south Delhi’s Neb Sarai area, police said.

Santosh Devi (50) was arrested in a police raid at her house where CCTV cameras were installed to desist beat constables and local police.
