1. Saudi Diplomat Accused in Rape Case Leaves India

The Saudi Arabian diplomat charged with confinement and rape of two Nepalese women, has left the country.

We have learnt that the first secretary Majed Hassan Ashoor who was allegedly accused of raping two Nepalese women has left India. The first secretary being a diplomat is governed by the provision of the Vienna convention on diplomatic relations.

2. US Woman Allegedly Gang-raped in Dharamsala

Two unidentified men allegedly gangraped a 46-year old American woman in the hill station, Dharamsala, earlier this week.

“I had gone to the market on September 14 when two people attacked me from behind,” the woman said in her complaint filed on Wednesday. She alleged that after she lost consciousness, the accused took her to an isolated spot and raped her. She had come to India from California a week ago.

3. Hindu Outfit Man Held for Allegedly Killing CPI Leader Govind Pansare

It was the frequent change of SIM cards that made Kolhapur police suspicious of Sameer Vishnu Gaikwad (32), a “full-time member” of radical Hindu organisation ‘Sanatan Sanstha’, who was arrested on Wednesday in connection with the murder of veteran CPI leader Govind Pansare.

Following Pansare’s death in February, Gaikwad’s phones were put under surveillance and for six months, his calls were monitored. As investigators found that Gaikwad frequently discussed Pansare with his wife, their suspicion grew.

4. ADR Report: 88 MPs Made Wrong Claims on Poll Funding

The poll spending reports of 16% of Lok Sabha members for last year’s general election do not square with those of their parties, according to a report by an election reform advocacy group released on Wednesday.

An analysis of poll expenditure by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) showed 88 members of parliament, 70 of them from the BJP, claimed they received money from the party but there was no mention of it in the party accounts submitted to the Election Commission.

5. Delhi: Boy Strangled, Body Hanged in Dhaula Kuan

A six-year-old boy was allegedly strangulated and then his body was hanged from a tree at a secluded area in south Delhi’s Dhaula Kuan area, the police said.

The police suspect that he might have been sexually assaulted. The boy had been missing since Tuesday evening and a case of abduction was registered at the South Campus police station in connection with the incident.

6. Rs 8 Lakh Stolen From House of Ex-PSC Chairman in Bhopal

Cash and jewellery worth Rs 8 lakh were stolen from the house of former Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) chairman Vinay Shankar Dube. A case was registered at Bagh Sewania police station.

Dube and his wife were in Delhi to meet their son when the theft took place, the police said.

7. US man Gets 13 Years in Jail for Attacking 82-year-old Sikh Man

An American man has been sentenced to 13 years in prison on charges of hate crime for brutally assaulting an 82-year-old Sikh man with a steel rod outside a gurudwara in California two years ago.

Piara Singh had just finished preparing meals for the ‘langar’ (community kitchen), when Gilbert Garcia spotted him outside the Nanaksar gurudwara in Fresno city on May 5, 2013. Garcia screamed something about the Taliban and Muslims as he attacked Singh.

8. Drunk Driving Accused Janhavi Gadkar Loses her Licence

Corporate lawyer Janhavi Gadkar, accused of ramming her SUV into a taxi while driving drunk on the wrong lane of the Eastern Freeway in Mumbai and killing two on June 10, may not be able to drive again as the Wadala RTO revoked her driving licence on Wednesday.

9. Two Arms Smugglers Held With 9 Pistols

An inter-state gang involved in smuggling illegal weapons was busted on Tuesday, with the arrest of two of its members near Mutthiganj Road. They were carrying a consignment from Khandwa in Madhya Pradesh to be delivered in the city. Nine pistols, including six of 0.32 bore, one of 0.9 mm and one of 0.38 bore and cartridges were recovered from them.
