1. Teens Arrested for Killing Uber Driver in Delhi
Two teenagers were arrested on Friday by Delhi Police for killing an Uber cab driver. The driver has been identified as Kuldeep.
The teenagers were passengers in the Uber cab driven by the deceased. They got into an argument with Kuldeep and shot him, after which they dumped his body in an open field in West Delhi. The incident took place two days ago.
The police tracked the two teens by accessing the passenger data through the Uber mobile app.
2. 19-Year-Old Jailed for Voyeurism
A 19-year-old man was jailed for a year on charges of vouyerism after he was caught peeping inside a toilet being used by a woman, reports Youth Ki Awaaz.
Holding him guilty of vouyerism, the court emphasised on the need for zero tolerance of crimes against women and said that vouyerism was an infringement on a woman’s basic right to privacy.
3. Builder Murdered in Broad Daylight
A local builder was murdered in broad daylight in Mumbai on Friday by three people. The victim, identified as Manoj Jaiswal, was murdered in his office by three unidentified people wielding sharp-edged weapons.
The 42-year-old was seriously injured in the attack and died while beinh taken to the hospital.
The assailants managed to escape from the spot. The police have launched a manhunt to nab them.
4. 14-Year-Old Abducted, Gangraped
A 14-year-old girl was abducted from her home in the Balia district of UP, taken to Bihar’s Buxar district and gangraped by some people of her village. The girl was kidnapped on 24 March by six people but managed to escape and return home on Friday.
Her father registered a complaint and an FIR was lodged thereafter.
5. Official Arrested for Theft of Temple Jewels
The Crime Branch CID of the Tamil Nadu police on Thursday arrested A Elamparithi, Executive Officer of Arulmigu Vadapalani Andavar Thirukoil, in connection with the theft of gold and diamond jewels from the Sri Oppiliappan Temple in Thirunageswaram, Kumbakonam, where he served a few years ago, reports The Hindu.
According to police sources, the CB-CID registered a case based on a complaint lodged by the Executive Officer of the temple that original precious stones and gold jewels owned by the temple were replaced with fake ones.
6. Woman Bludgeoned to Death by Nephew, His Friend
A youth along with his friend was arrested for allegedly bludgeoning his aunt to death at her house in Dwarka after a failed robbery attempt.
The incident occured on Tuesday when the youth visited his aunt with his friend, where the duo attacked her. When she collapsed, they tried to break her almirah but failed. After that they fled from the spot.
The main accused was picked up after the victim’s son told the police that he was about to visit her that day. He has confessed to the crime while effforts are on to nab the second accused.
7. Juvenile Sexually Assaulted, Beaten by Co-inmates in Observation Home
A juvenile lodged in a Rajkot Observation Home was sodomised and beaten by his fellow inmates on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday, reports The Indian Express.
The incident came to light after another juvenile, who was also assaulted, ran away from the home on Wednesday night and informed his parents about the incident.
The victims’s mother lodged a complaint with the police. Police have arrested the peon and security guard who were on duty that night.
8. Teenage Dalit Girl Raped and Murdered; Father Demands CBI Probe
The father of a 17-year-old Dalit girl, who was allegedly raped and murdered in Bikaner district demanded a CBI probe into the matter. He accused the police of not investigating the crime properly and demanded that murder charges be included in the FIR lodged in the case.
The girl’s body had been found in the room of the college’s physical trainer, who has been arrested by the police.
9. 60-Year-Old Gets Three Years Imprisonment for Molesting Minor Daughter
A 60-year-old man has been given three years imprisonment by a local court in Mumbai for molesting his minor daughter.
He had started to molest his daughter when he returned to India in 2006.
The prosecutor further told the court that the accused threatened her of dire consequences if she disclosed it to her mother or anyone else.
