1. Shootout at Delhi’s Kakardooma Court, One Cop Killed

One person was killed and three injured when unidentified persons opened fire inside the premises of east Delhi’s Karkardooma Court on Wednesday. Head constable Ram Kumar, who was escorting a criminal Chenu Phelwan alias Irfan, succumbed to his four bullet injuries at a hospital. Irfan, a criminal from Seelampur, was the intended target.

Four people, among them a minor held for murder last year, were detained soon after.

Four bullets hit head constable Ram Kumar — who was with the Delhi Police’s third battalion, which is tasked with ferrying undertrial prisoners between courts and prisons — killing him.

2. Youth Charged With Double Murder Gets Arrested

A 23-year-old youth, wanted in connection with at least two murders and several attempted murder cases, was arrested on Wednesday at Charichhaka under Ganjam district’s Aska police station limit in the early hours, the police said.

The accused who has been identified as Bulu Nahak of Nuagaon near Aska, received bullet injuries on his legs and was admitted at MKCG Medical College and Hospital, here. His accomplice however managed to escape in a motorbike from the spot.

3. 35-Year Old Son of Education Baron Killed, Three Arrested

The vice president of a renowned educational society in Chhattisgarh was found dead on Wednesday. Abhishek, 35, was the vice-president of Shri Gangajali Education Society in the region which runs around a dozen colleges offering courses in engineering, pharmacy, nursing, management, etc.

The victim, missing since last month, was found to have been murdered in Durg district. Two of the accused have been arrested.

4.Minor Girl’s Body Recovered from Room Cooler in Jaipur

A six-year-old girl, who had gone missing, has been found dead in Jaipur. The girl’s body was recovered from a room cooler at her neighbour’s house in Sriganganagar district of Rajasthan. The police suspect that she was raped as well.

“The girl was missing since yesterday (Tuesday). On suspicion, the house of one Anshu Soni, around 21 to 22 years old, in the victim’s neighbourhood was searched leading to recovery of the body from a room cooler,” Deputy SP (Rural) Bachan Singh Meena said.

5. Three Cops Arrested for Robbing Rs 1 Crore From Businessman

Three policemen were among five people arrested for allegedly threatening, kidnapping and robbing a businessman of Rs 1 crore at Vashi in the Navi Mumbai area. The policemen were accompanied by two civilians. The incident rook place earlier this week. The arrested accused were identified as assistant inspectors Raghunath Khairnar (32) and Nilesh Sadanshiv (28), police naik Janardan Raje (47).

The civilians arrested along with the cops are Balraj Swamy alias Uday (50) and Laxman Swamy (41), a press release issued by Vashi police stated.

6. Nigerian Gang Arrested for Online Fraud Worth Lakhs

A gang of Nigeria-based cheats was busted with the arrest of a 37-year-old man who lured people through emails on the pretext of transferring huge amount in their bank accounts, and, thereby, induced them to share money as transfer charges, customs charges, taxes or courier charges.

The arrested accused has been identified as Furtunatus Obinna, a resident of Gujjar Dairy area in south Delhi’s Gautam Nagar. According to police, the matter came to light after a retired school teacher was cheated to the tune of Rs 4.85 lakh and a case was registered.

7. Radio Jockey in Madhya Pradesh Found Dead In Bathroom

A woman radio jockey was found dead in her hostel’s bathroom in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur district. The victim’s body was found under mysterious circumstances, with her head stuck in the water bucket, lying in the bathroom. She was taken to the hospital where she was declared dead.

8. Two Booked for Cheating Insurance Firm of Rs 28 Lakh

Two persons, including a woman, have been booked for allegedly cheating an insurance firm to the tune of over Rs 28 lakh by submitting fake claim papers, police said here today.

According to a complaint lodged by the insurance company here yesterday, the two persons cheated the firm to the tune of over Rs 28 lakh, Inspector Balasaheb Tambe of Kasarwadavali Police Station said.

9. Two People Caught with Gold Worth Rs 50 Lakh

Chennai Police has held two people for illegally carrying 2-kg gold jewellery worth Rs 50 lakh. According to The Times of India report, police informed income tax officials after they found that they were taking the gold from a private financing firm in Trichy in their vehicle.

Police detained Bharat Kumar of Triplicane and Rakesh of Choolai for questioning. Police asked them to show the receipts for purchase of the jewellery. As they failed to do so, they seized the gold and informed I-T sleuths.
