1. CBI Says 16-Year-Old Ryan Student Admits to Killing Pradyumn

A 16-year-old student of Gurgaon’s Ryan International School, detained by the CBI in connection with the murder of eight-year-old Pradyumn Thakur, confessed to his crime in front of his father and an independent witness, the agency has told a juvenile court.

The juvenile was on Thursday taken to a “certain place” by Central Bureau of Investigation officials for the corroboration of his statement.

A special crime team of the CBI, which is questioning him, remained tight-lipped about the exercise, saying it could affect the probe.

However, sources said during the questioning session between 10 am and 5 pm, allowed by the juvenile court in Gurgaon, he was taken to a “certain place” to substantiate his statements on the activities before and after the crime. The court has sent the juvenile to three-day CBI custody.

2. CID Probe Finds Policemen Hung Suspect Upside Down, Stripped and Thrashed Him

A CID probe into the custodial death of an alleged thief in Sangli has revealed that five policemen, after hanging the suspect upside down, beat him till the rope holding him snapped and he fell head first into a bucket of water.

Aniket Kothale (26) was “brutally hit on the bone below the knee for maximum pain,” a senior CID officer said.

The officer told The Indian Express: “Later, he was hung upside down by a hook in the ceiling. He was stripped naked and a black hood was used to cover head. The cops intermittently drowned his head in a bucket of water and beat him with a red plastic pipe. As this was happening, Kothale was begging not to be beaten up.”

3. Man Arrested for 'Raping Two Minors, Trying to Rape Their 4-Yr-Old Sister'

A 45-year-old man has been arrested by the Pune City Police for allegedly raping two sisters, aged nine and eight years, and attempting to rape their four-year-old sister, inside a six-seater auto-rickshaw in Yerwada area.

Police have identified the accused as Bhavarlal Sakhaji Range (45), who lived on a footpath at Airport Road in Lohegaon area. According to police, the victims were from a homeless family, and they used to sleep inside a damaged auto-rickshaw parked in Yerwada.

4. Doctor Found Dead in Hostel

A 24-year-old doctor was found dead in her hostel room on the Siddharth Hospital premises in Goregaon Thursday morning. While it appeared to be suicide, police said no note was found in the room because of which it was not clear yet as to why did she take the extreme step.

Mehzabeen Nasreen was a resident doctor living on the hostel’s fifth floor. At 10:20 am, when she did not report to work, other hostel residents checked on her and found her body hanging from the ceiling fan in her room.

5. 19-Year-Old Man Arrested From Uttar Pradesh for Kidnapping, Raping Minor

The Aarey police have arrested a 19-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh for allegedly kidnapping and raping a 16-year-old girl from Mumbai.

The man, a native of Allahabad, and the girl studied in the same school and he fell in love with her. She lived with her grandparents in Allahabad, while her parents’ home is in Aarey Colony, Goregaon, in Mumbai.

The father brought the girl to Mumbai a few months ago after learning that she had been harassed by the man in the school, said a police officer.

6. CBI Nabs Crime Branch Cop, Aides for Taking Rs 70,000 Bribe

A crime branch officer and two of his accomplices were caught red-handed by the CBI for accepting a bribe of Rs 70,000. The policeman had arrested a man in June and promised his sister to help him secure bail if he was paid Rs 2 lakh through a lawyer appointed by him.

The woman lodged a complaint against the cop, ASI Rakesh Kumar, and his seniors with the CBI after which a trap was laid to nab him.

7. 10-Yr-Old Chandigarh Rape Survivor, Kin to Be Relocated to Save Them From Trauma

The Chandigarh administration has decided to rehabilitate the family of a 10-year-old girl, who gave birth to an infant after being raped over a period of seven months by her maternal uncles, in an effort to alleviate their trauma.

The move to shift the girl and her family out of the house came days after the two accused — one employed as a cook and the other a security guard at the same hotel — were sentenced to life imprisonment.

“The child has undergone severe trauma. The family has been trying to resume a normal life, but doing so is difficult because people in the locality know the victim,” an official said on the condition of anonymity.

8. Maid Servant Makes Away With Valuables a Day After She Was Hired

Oshiwara police are searching for a domestic maidwho made away with gold and diamond ornaments worth Rs 4.95 lakh from her employer's house in Andheri (West) on Wednesday.

The theft was committed when Sheetal Pandya (40) found her newly recruited domestic maid (aged around 35 years) did not turn up for work.

Getting suspicious, Pandya checked her cupboard and found the valuables missing. "The domestic maid made away with the valuables a day after she was hired. The complainant doesn't have contact details of the accused employed on 7 November as their domestic maid," said Oshiwara senior police Subhash Khanvilkar.

9. NIA Team Questions Two Suspected ISIS Sympathisers in Chennai

A team of officials from the National Investigation Agency on Thursday questioned two people in Chennai for their alleged links with the ISIS.

NIA sources said the two men, identified as Mohammed Jaffer of Kondithope and Sahib of Mannadi, were questioned by a team of officials from Delhi in a secluded place in the city.

They were summoned to appear before them to inquire after ISIS sympathiser Shajahan VK had spilled the beans about them during questioning.
