1. IPL 6 Spot Fixing Case: Court to Pass Order on Framing of Charges

New Delhi: A Delhi court will likely pronounce on Monday, June 29, its order on framing of charges in the IPL 2013 spot fixing case in which suspended cricketers S Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila, Ankeet Chavan, as well as underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and his aide Chhota Shakeel, are accused – as reported by Hindustan Times.

The Special Cell of Delhi Police had named 42 accused in the case in its charge sheet, out of whom six are absconding.

2. Notorious Criminal Langarpuria Arrested

New Delhi: Notorious gangster Vikas Langarpuria has been arrested by the Delhi Police in Dwarka where he had come to meet an associate, as reported by The Hindu.

According to the police, he whipped out a pistol to fire at the raiding team, but he was nabbed before he could shoot. The 25-year-old alleged history-sheeter was mainly into extortion, and was wanted in a dozen cases, including murder and attempts to murder. He has been arrested twice in the past, and was out on bail in one of those murder cases.

Langarpuria was also involved in several face-offs with slain ex-MLA Bharat Singh over buying and selling of plots in Najafgarh and nearby areas.

3. Conman Uses Metro Cards to Turn Plastic Money Into Cash

Gurgaon: Lakhs use the Delhi Metro’s smart cards for their commute. But Manoj Kumar Gupta, a jobless commerce graduate, used these cards to make money.

According to a report in The Times of India, Gupta, 27, was arrested for allegedly recharging dozens of Metro cards online using debit card information stolen from at least 25 people and then claiming refunds on these cards to pocket the cash.

Police said Gupta began his operation outside two unguarded ATM booths in Sector 37. He loitered near the booths frequented by villagers, many of whom needed help to withdraw cash. Gupta would step in at the opportunity to play the good Samaritan. But in the process, he would note the debit card details.

4. Actor’s Flat Burgled Despite 45 CCTV Cams

Kolkata: The 13th-floor south Kolkata flat of actor Rachana Banerjee has been burgled of Rs 10 lakh in cash and jewellery, possibly by her domestic help, who has gone missing, as reported in The Times of India.

The actor — an established name in the Tollywood film industry — discovered the burglary herself late on Saturday at her home on Panditiya Road, near Triangular Park. Her help, a resident of Burdwan who used to work in the flat, is missing since Saturday. This has led Rachana and the police to believe that her help is responsible for the burglary.

5. School Director Lynched After Death of Two Students

Patna: The director of a private school in Nalanda was lynched by a mob on Sunday, which had gathered after the bodies of two school children were found in a canal nearby, as reported by The Indian Express.

Police said that the director was kicked and hit with bamboo sticks by the mob, which comprised mostly of teenagers.

The victim, Devendra Prasad Sinha (53), ran a school called DPS, which he had named after himself. The school has no connection with the popular chain that goes by the same acronym.

6. Union Minister Shripad Naik’s Maid Murdered

Panaji: A maid who worked at the house of Union MoS for Ayush Shripad Naik was found murdered in her hut at Sao Pedro near Old Goa on Sunday.

According to a report in The Times of India, Charu Pandurang Rathod, 40, lived a stone’s throw away from Naik’s house. The accused has been identified but is yet to be traced.

Police said they suspected Rathod, a native of Bagalkot, Karnataka, who was staying with her two sons and a daughter, was murdered by her friend who was also staying with them.

7. Blind Athlete Beaten up for Seeking Loan Repayment

Bareilly: A visually impaired international athlete from Pilibhit district was allegedly assaulted by a father-son duo when he had gone to their house to collect an outstanding debt they owed his brother, as reported by The Times of India.

Hitesh Sachdeva, who has represented the country at international athletic competitions for the visually impaired, is a resident of Ganeshgunj in Puranpur Kotwali of Pilibhit district. On Friday evening, he had gone to the house of Rajat Khandelwal at Chowk locality to get back the Rs 11 lakh which Khandelwal allegedly owed Sachdeva’s elder brother.

8. Top Official of Oil Major Found Dead in Dibrugarh

Guwahati: A top official of a state-run oil company has been found dead under mysterious circumstances with a vein on his wrist slit, at his official residence in Dibrugarh district of Assam, as reported by Zee News.

The body of a general manager of public sector undertaking Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Ltd (BCPL), identified as Bimal Kumar (53), was found, after breaking open the locked room yesterday, a senior police officer said.

9. 43 Officials of Indian Diplomatic Missions to Face Action

New Delhi: The government is taking action with regard to complaints against 43 officials of Indian diplomatic missions in 17 countries facing a variety of charges including corruption and dereliction of duty, senior external affairs ministry sources said on Sunday. This was reported by The Times of India.

According to official figures, six complaints against officials in Indian missions were received in 2012, 10 in 2013 and 27 in 2014. A maximum of eight complaints have been received each from the missions in the UK and Madagascar in the last three years.
