1. Saudi Diplomat Booked for Gangrape

A diplomat from Saudi Arabia is among those booked for gangrape and wrongful confinement of two Nepalese women. The women — one aged 44, and her daughter, 20 — were rescued from his residence in Gurgaon after a raid on Monday night, the police said. Their medical examination has confirmed rape and sexual assault.

2. Gokul Murder Case: He Planted Skull Cap, Dagger in Jose’s Flat

Gokul Macheri, 33, allegedly planted a skull cap, prayer beads and a dagger in the house of his neighbour , Saju Jose, to create suspicion in the latter’s wife that her husband had become an extremist, police sources said.

Saju Jose’s wife, Dhanya Babu, told the police that about a month ago, she found a Muslim skull cap, prayer beads and a dagger in their cupboard. Although she asked Jose about it, he said he didn’t know where it came from, senior police officials said.

3. ‘Gay’ Husband of AIIMS Doctor Who Killed Herself Faces Trial

A Delhi court has put on trial an AIIMS doctor whose wife, also a doctor, at the premier hospital, allegedly killed herself in April. She described him as a “homosexual” in a suicide note.

The accused, a senior resident doctor at AIIMS, pleaded not guilty and faces trial on charges of subjecting his wife to cruelty, dowry death and abetment to suicide.

4. Arms Seized From Trinamool Leader’s House in Malda

Two days after Trinamool Congress’ Jadupur area president in Malda district of West Bengal was suspended by the party, the police on Monday night raided the residence of his unit’s vice president, Sarjan Sheikh, and recovered firearms and ammunition.

5. Inspired by TV Serial, Girl Kills Brother ‘To Remove Obstacle From Love Affair’

A teenage girl allegedly stabbed her brother to death to “remove the obstacle from her love affair” in Amreli, Gujarat, late on Monday. The police said that the girl took inspiration for the crime from a popular television serial.

Amreli police said that the incident took place at around 6 pm on Monday when Siddharth Dafda (23) was watching television with his 17-year-old sister at their residence in Amreli. Suddenly, the teenager stabbed her brother in the chest with a kitchen knife. As Siddharth tried to escape, the girl chased him to the door and before he could open it, stabbed him again in neck.

6. This School Principal Eloped With 8 Women in 7 Years

Dhaval Trivedi, the 43-year-old former principal of a reputable school, who allegedly abducted and raped two 16-year-old girl students for nearly two years, is finally standing in the dock.

Trial proceedings have begun against Trivedi, who was arrested from Punjab on July 14 last year. He was arrested two years after he abducted the class XI girls from their hostel in Padadhari. The trial is taking place in the court dealing with cases under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

7. Man Dies in Police Van, Kin Turn Violent

A 34-year-old man died under mysterious circumstances in a police emergency response vehicle (ERV) on Monday in northeast Delhi’s Nand Nagri. The man, a listed ‘bad character’ in outer district, was out on parole. A judicial inquest proceeding has been initiated, but no FIR has been lodged.

The man, Shanu Shahnawaz Chaudhary, was accompanying his wife Mamta from Sunder Nagari to a local hospital to meet his sister-in-law who was suffering from dengue.

8. Laxmi Nagar Erupts Over Temple Issue

Nine DTC buses were damaged and markets shut near Laxmi Nagar Metro station after residents, and several religious and political groups held a massive demonstration on Tuesday morning. 9. Gunman Shoots Advocate with the Latter’s Pistol, Too Drunk to Remember Where

A career criminal who shot dead an advocate on Sunday night has told investigators that the 9mm pistol used in the crime belonged to the advocate, S Kamesh, himself. The accused, Eshwaran, told police he was too drunk to remember the exact spot where he shot the advocate. Eshwaran alias Essa and Kamesh were returning from Puducherry after a drinking binge when the shooting took place.

On Monday evening, a team of police officers took Eshwaran to Marakkanam near Puducherry to help recreate the crime. Police officials said that Eshwaran kept changing his statement every hour making it difficult to put together a water tight case for conviction.
