1. Decomposed Body Found in Gurugram’s Sector 79, Police Suspect Murder

The decomposed body of a man was found in the bushes adjacent to a hill in Sector 79, near Bar Gujjar village, on Thursday afternoon. Police suspect the man, who is yet to be identified, was murdered and his body dumped in the area to avoid suspicion.

According to the police, the incident was reported around 12.30 pm when a motorist, who was driving to work, perceived a foul smell emanating from the bushes.

2. 3-Yr-Old’s Body Found Stuffed in Bag Along Jaipur-Delhi Expressway

The dead body of a toddler, suspected to be three years old, was found in a bag in a green belt on Jaipur-Delhi expressway near Anaj Mandi in Sector 10A on Wednesday evening, 16 October. The police have registered a case of murder against unknown persons.

According to the police, at 4.42pm, a traffic marshal of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) noticed a suspicious-looking black travelling bag lying near the bollards next to a pavement on the Jaipur to Delhi side of the expressway.

3. Bengaluru: Man Tries to Stab Hebbal MLA Byrathi Suresh, Handed Over to Police

Congress MLA Byrathi Suresh escaped a knife attack on Thursday, 17 October in a road rage incident near his residence in Hebbal, North Bengaluru.

The incident happened after a local youth hit the MLA’s car with his two-wheeler, following which he stopped the bike and started a heated argument with Suresh. Within a few minutes, the youth pulled out a knife to stab Suresh, but he was soon overpowered by the MLA’s security personnel and handed over to the police.

4. Mumbai: Six Men Booked for Stealing Groundwater Worth Rs 73.18 Crore

The Azad Maidan police has booked six persons for allegedly extracting groundwater illegally from the premises of a housing society and selling it in the market. The accused, who had illegally dug two wells inside the housing society, allegedly made Rs 73.18 crore by selling the groundwater over the years, the police said.

The incident came to light in March after complainant Sureshkumar Dhoka met Mumbai Police Commissioner Sanjay Barve. Dhoka has rented an office on the ground floor of Pandya mansion in Kalbadevi. “I’m running the office since 2003. Everyday, I would see water tankers queuing up outside my office. As the area is congested, I wrote to traffic police officials and converted these lanes into one-way roads.”

5. Chandigarh: 24-Year-Old Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison for Sodomy

The additional District and Sessions Court of Chandigarh sentenced a 24-year-old man to ten years in prison for sodomizing a 7-year-old boy in 2018.

The convict, Mukesh, was sentenced by the Court of ADJ Poonam R Joshi, under sections 377 (Unnatural offences) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC and Section 4 of the POCSO Act. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 1.62 lakh on him.

7. Teen Stabs Woman, Jumps to Death: Cops Examine Call Records to Ascertain Motive

A day after a 16-year-old committed suicide after allegedly stabbing a woman at a Noida residential society, police are examining call detail records to ascertain the motive.

On Thursday evening, the boy, who lived in the society, entered the 21-year-old woman’s house in the adjacent block. Later, he jumped to his death from her eighth-floor home, while the woman crawled out of the house with multiple stab wounds.
