1. Jharkhand BJP Chief’s Son Accused of Marrying a Minor, Sexually Abusing Another Minor

Jharkhand BJP chief Tala Marandi’s son, Munna Marandi, has been accused by the Congress of marrying a minor, while another minor girl has alleged that she was sexually abused by him for two years.

The minor had put in a complaint against Munna when she appeared before the State Commission for Women (SCW) alleging that she was sexually exploited by the BJP chief’s son after he promised to marry her.

2. Odia Comedian Arrested For Promoting Casting Couch and Sexually Harassing a Minor

Comedian Tatwa Prakash Satpathy aka Pappu Pom Pom and his associate, Pradipta Kumar Swain, were arrested in Bhubaneswar on charges of promoting casting couch in the Odia film industry and also sexually harassing a minor, The Telegraph reported.

Pappu, who is also a member of Odisha’s ruling party BJD, was suspended from the party following the uproar caused by the opposition party.

A case was registered by the police against Pappu and Swain under sections 354-A (sexual harassment) 506 (criminal intimidation) among others.

3. CBI to Charge Chhota Rajan for Journalist’s Murder

The CBI is likely to file a supplementary charge sheet against against arrested gangster Chhota Rajan in connection with the murder of journalist Jyotirmoy Dey in Mumbai, five years ago, The Indian Express reported.

It has been alleged that Rajan ordered the murder of Dey, although he has claimed innocence.

CBI sources, however, said that the evidence collected by them is enough to prove that Rajan had indeed ordered the murder.

4. Investigators Trying to Get Hold of Murdered Infosys Employee’s Cellphone Data

Investigators who are probing the murder case of Infosys employee, S Swathi, are now trying to get a hold of the data on her mobile phone by duplicating her SIM card, Deccan Chronicle reported.

Her mobile phone was taken by her murderer after he killed her in public on a railway platform in Chennai.

The investigators are hoping to pick up possible digital evidence from her data backup.

5. Judge Allegedly Gets Assaulted by Bihar Cops

A judge got a taste of being a commoner after he was allegedly assaulted and slapped by a sub-inspector and constable near Patna on Thursday, when he requested right of passage to the court.

The Telegraph reported that Prabhunath Prasad, who is the additional chief judicial magistrate-I, district and sessions court of Gopalganj, lodged an FIR against sub-inspector Yadav and the constable at the Gopaganj town police station.

The FIR has been lodged under sections 186,179, 341, 323, 332, 353, 500 and 504 of the IPC – most of which relate to obstructing a public servant in discharging public duties and punishment for voluntarily causing hurt.

6. Paanwalla Allegedly Fatally Assaults Kerala Boy in Delhi Over Suspicions of Shoplifting

A ninth standard boy from Kerala was fatally assaulted by a paan shop owner on suspicions of shop-lifting in Delhi’s Mayur Vihar phase III on Wednesday.

As per reports, the assailants were themselves two minor brothers.

According to Deccan Chronicle, the delay in police action led locals to vandalise the shop of the paanwallah.

7. Two Women of a Dance Group Allegedly Gangraped in Agra

Two women dancers of a dance group were allegedly gangraped by 10-12 men in Kagraul police station area of Agra on 25 June.

Both women are reported to have suffered serious injuries.

The Indian Express reported that three women of the group were abducted shortly after their performance. One of the three women claimed that she was spared when she told the rapists that she was pregnant.

Agra police arrested two of the accused on Thursday.

8. Parul University Founder Remanded in Judicial Custody Over Rape Case

A court in Vadodara remanded in judicial custody Jayesh Patel, founder of Parul University who was arrested in a rape case last week.

Police sought his further custody for conducting brain mapping and narco test but the court rejected the demand.

A girl student of a nursing college attached to the private university had alleged that Patel raped her at the guest house on the campus some days ago.

9. Firearm Found in School Boy’s Bag in Jamshedpur

In yet another incident, a fire-arm was recovered from the school bag of a minor student of RMS School at Jamshedpur on Thursday.

A country-made pistol was found in the school bag of the 13-year-old during class hour, Senior Superintendent of Police, Anoop T Mathew said.

The Officer-in-charge of Sonari Police Station, Budhram Oraon, said the school authorities began a search of the school bag of students after being informed that a student was flaunting a pistol to his classmates.

The student was taken to the police station for interrogation.
