1. ED Registers Case Against Chhagan Bhujbal, Ex-PWD Minister of Maharashtra

Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday registered two Economic Case Information Reports (ECIR) against him and others under the provisions of Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

The first ECIR pertains to the Maharashtra Sadan scam and Kalina land allotment case.

The second ECIR is in connection with an FIR against the senior NCP leader involving a housing project at Navi Mumbai.

2. FIR Against Gujarat Opposition Leader Vaghela

CBI today initiated a probe against leader of the opposition in Gujarat Assembly Shankarsinh Vaghela in NTC land sale case.

Search operation at Vaghela’s residence at this time is an attempt to divert attention from Lalit Modi case.

3. Two Booked for Raping Dalit Minor

A 16-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly raped by two youths in Modinagar Bhojpur police station area in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, police said today.

The incident took place on June 13 in Chudiala village.

The girl had gone to the fields to relieve herself when the two youths -Vicky and Atul- gangraped her, Bhojpur Station House Officer Dalchand said.

4. Villagers Vandalise Collectorate Over Inaction in Dowry Death Case

Scores of irate villagers today manhandled the Additional District Magistrate and ransacked the Collectorate here for alleged inaction by the authorities in a case of dowry death.

The victim’s family along with other villagers vandalised the Collectorate in Pilkhuwa village here, while the victim’s father attempted suicide in front of the office by pouring kerosene on himself, police said.

5. NCP Supporters Vandalise Public Bus in Nashik

National Congress Party workers today damaged a Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus in Nashik in a protest against the searches conducted by Maharashtra Anti-Corruption Bureau.

On Tuesday Anti-Corruption Bureau searched seven properties in Mumbai, two in Thane, five in Nashik and two in Pune to ascertain the assets owned by Chhagan Bhujbal, his son and Member of Legislative Assembly, Pankaj Bhujbal, and nephew Samir.

6. Man Booked for Making Video of a Woman in Mall Washroom

A man has been booked for allegedly attempting to make video of a woman when she went to toilet and molesting her at a mall in Faridabad, police said on Wednesday.

The incident happened on June 11 at Eldeco Station mall here, the police said.

The woman works as an administrative staff in the mall, Investigating Officer ASI Sushila said.

7. Two Gangs Nabbed in Faridabad

Members of two gangs, specialising in stealing valuables and laptops from cars, have been nabbed by the crime branch Badkhal of Faridabad Police.

While two of the arrested are from a gang which was active in Faridabad only, the other four arrested belong to the gang active in Faridabad, Noida and Delhi.

8. Round two of Inquiry Into Illegal Granite Mining

IAS officer U Sagayam, inquiring into the illegal granite mining in Madhurai, on Wednesday began round two of inquiry, officials said.

Officials said the inquiry committee, which had not received any reports from many government departments,would receive them during this sitting.The staff were also busy compiling all the reports, they added.

9. Gadkar’s Bail Plea Deferred Till Monday

A local court today deferred the hearing of bail application filed by corporate lawyer Janhavi Gadkar to Monday.

Gadkar is accused of mowing down two persons while driving under the influence of alcohol.

The court adjourned the hearing as the jail authorities did not produce her medical reports.

10. 15-year-old Confessed to Murder of Two-year-old

Delhi police today apprehended a juvenile girl after she confessed to the murder of a two-year-old in Kalyan Puri.

The 15-year-old girl, a local resident, has confessed to strangulate the child to death, police said.

The two-year-old girl was missing from her home since June 10, police said.
