1. Call Centre Workers from Maharashtra Extort Crores from Americans

Employees from nine call centres in Maharashtra extorted over 36 million dollars from Americans by making faux calls and threatening people with tax fraud or tax evasion.

The callers pretended to be American Internal Revenue Services or IRS officials threatening and blackmailing people with tax investigations and raids.

The call centre employees were having a fun ride until Tuesday when 200 policemen swooped in to cut the lines. This was followed by 800 workers getting interrogated through the night, culminating into arrest of about 70 of them.

2. Serving Air Force Officer Arrested in International Drug Syndicate

A Wing Commander of the Indian Air Force has been arrested by the NCB from Maharashtra in connection with its probe in an international drug racket involving a scientist and his wife.

Officials said Wing Commander G Rajasekhar Reddy was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in coordination with Nanded Police on Monday and brought to Hyderabad based on investigations, after a drug racket was unearthed in Hyderabad two days back.

They said Reddy, posted at Air Headquarters in Delhi, was the alleged "kingpin" of the racket.

3. 2 Agra Youths Booked for 'Objectionable' WhatsApp Post Against PM

Two Agra youths have been booked for posting a 'objectionable' post against PM Modi on WhatsApp. The action came following a complaint lodged by BJP workers at Barahan police station. One of the accused, who is also the group admin, has been arrested.

Speaking to TOI, Yogender Yadav, station officer of Barhan, said, "We have booked the duo under Section 153B (Imputations, assertions prejudicial to national integration) of the Indian Penal Code. The group administrator has been arrested, while the one who posted the photo is still on the run."

4. Uttar Pradesh: Man Lets Friend Rape Wife to Repay Rs 5,000 Loan

A man in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, allegedly let his friend rape his wife to pay off a loan of Rs 5,000 he owed him.

According to a report in India Today, the incident took place on 29 September when the man, identified as Naresh, brought his friend Pintu home. He allegedly forced his wife to go with Pintu to settle the debt.

Pintu then raped Naresh’s wife. She was beaten up by Naresh when she objected to it.

5. 3-Yr-Old Burnt by Minor in Hyderabad: Juvenile Crime on the Rise?

In a tragic incident, a three-year-old boy in Hyderabad was set on fire by his 16-year-old neighbour in Kalapathar, for not moving aside when the latter asked him.

According to reports, Ali Shair was playing in front of his house with some others when the teenager came on his bike and shouted at the kids to move away.

Ali is currently undergoing treatment at the Osmania General Hospital (OGH) in the city.

6. 14-year-old gangraped by 5 men in UP’s Badaun

A 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by five men in Sahaswan area here, police said today. The incident took place on Monday when the girl was going to attend a marriage function with her elder sister.

Both were abducted by a group of five men who took them to a secluded place. The elder sister was tied while they raped the teenager, said Sanjay Rai, Superintendent of Police (Rural).

Police have launched a manhunt to nab the accused and further investigations are underway, Rai said.

7. Armed Robbers Loot Passengers, Molest Women in Three Trains in Kanpur

A gang of about 10 robbers looted passengers and molested women in three trains on the outskirts of Kanpur and Unnao outers early on Wednesday morning.

Over the span of 45 minutes, the criminals, who were armed with country-made pistols, attacked 12 passengers in Lok Manya Tilak, Vaishali Express and Kanpur-Lucknow passenger trains.

The victims were left injured and were admitted to LLR and UHM hospitals.

IG Railways, LK Antony said the government railway police (GRP) Kanpur would investigate the matter.

8. Four Loot Rs 65 Lakh From Garment Trader, Arrested

Four people have been arrested in connection with a robbery of Rs 65 lakh last month from employees of a garment trader in East Delhi's Gandhi Nagar area, police said today.

Police arrested two of the accused from Delhi, while the other two were nabbed from Uttar Pradesh yesterday.

On 26 September, four bike-borne miscreants had robbed Rs 65 lakh at gunpoint from Shyam Babu and Arun Kumar Jha, employees of Lion Textiles, while they were going to deposit the cash at the Gandhi Nagar branch of Bank of Baroda, said Ravindra Yadav, joint commissioner of police (Crime).

9. Man Dupes Employer of Rs 1.8 Lakh Claiming He Was Robbed

A man has been arrested for duping his employer of Rs 1.84 lakh by falsely claiming that he had been robbed of the money, police said today.

Gurmeet Singh (24) employee of a factory-owner in Tilak Nagar, has been arrested along with his accomplice Vikram Ray (26), said Vijay Kumar, DCP (west).

Gurmeet lodged a complaint at Mayapuri police station on 3 October claiming he was robbed of Rs 1.84 lakh by four robbers, who came on two motorbikes, near Lajwanti flyover.

During interrogation, police found several loopholes in Gurmeet's story and he broke down and explained his concocted robbery story.
