1. Boy Beats Stepmom to Death for Rs 50 in Ujjain Village


A minor boy beat his stepmother to death upon her refusal to give him Rs 50 pocket money in Mahidpur area of Ujjain district.

The accused delivered blows with a stick on the Dhapu Bai, 45, in Khedakhujaria village on Monday killing her on the spot, Raghavi police said.

The boy's father, Balaram, was sleeping nearby when the attack took place. He tried to intervene, but he hit him with the stick and fled the spot.

2. Actor Alok Nath's Son Booked for Drunk Driving


Popular actor Alok Nath’s son has been booked for alleged drunken driving in suburban Mumbai, police said today.

The actor’s son, Shivang Nath, accompanied by three friends, including two women, was returning from a birthday party in his car late last night.

He was on the wheels when traffic police asked him to stop the car while checking for drunk driving. However, instead of stopping the vehicle, Shivang increased the speed and tried to flee.

Police then chased him and intercepted his car on the SV Road in suburban Bandra and brought him to Santacruz police station.

3. Youth Murders Woman for Resisting Sexual Advances in Thane


A 21-year-old youth has been arrested for murdering a woman who resisted his sexual advances, on Sunday.

Rakhi Shejwal, 25, was found murdered in her house on Sunday afternoon at Veer Sambhaji Vyayamshala chawl, Kopri Anandnagar in Thane east.

Upon interrogation, investigators found that accused Samir Gogawale – a resident of Ghansoli, who used to come to his parents at the same building as the victim lived in at Anandnagar – tried to force himself on the woman on the fateful day. But the woman resisted his advances which is why he killed her, said a police officer.

4. Madhya Pradesh: Teacher Held for Raping 3 Minor Girls


A 40-year-old teacher of a government primary school in Bakori area was arrested on charges of raping three of his minor girl students, police said.

"We booked contractual teacher grade-III Tulsiram Atya (40) of primary school last night after parents of the three victims complained to us that their daughters were raped on several counts since a month and were asked to keep quiet," Sultanganj police station sub-inspector SR Pandey told PTI.

Pandey said two of the victims were nine-years-old, while one was aged 11.
One of the victims first informed her mother about how she and two other girls were sexually abused at school.

5. Three Arrested for Raping Dalit Minor Girl


The Kalamassery police on Tuesday arrested three persons on charge of raping a 14-year-old Dalit girl. The incident took place while her parents were away from home on Thiruvonam day. According to police sources, the girl was ill and taking rest at home when the trio raped her.

The three arrested men hail from Kalamassery and friends of the victim's father, police sources said.

6. BMW Stolen From Gurgaon Family After Duo 'Cheats' Driver


A family residing in Gurgaon’s South City had their BMW car stolen on Monday when the driver of the vehicle, Amit Kumar, was allegedly tricked by a young man and woman, who claimed to have a job offer for him.

Police said Amit first came to know of the duo on Friday, when the man, who introduced himself as Raj Kumar, met him outside DT Mega Mall on Golf Course Road. Amit was waiting beside the car while the family he worked for was inside the mall.

7. Class XI Student, Minor Brother Held for Series of Crimes


The Chinchwad police has arrested a Class XI student from Kalewadi for serious offences like chain snatching, burglaries, vehicle thefts and bag lifting.

The accused, Deepak Thakur (19), was assisted in the crime by his younger brother. He has been detained.

Police solved 12 cases on Monday and seized valuables worth Rs 6.31 lakh, which includes gold and silver ornaments, cellphones, laptop and two motorcycles. Thakur would spend the money on merry-making, said senior inspector Vitthal Kubade.

8. Two Contract Killers, Who Attempted to Kill Biz Man, Arrested


Two contract killers, who had attempted to kill an owner of a transport company in northwest Delhi last month, have been arrested, police said on Tuesday.

A team of Crime Branch arrested accused Joginder and Jeetu on a specific information at Shanti Van Road, said Ravindra Yadav, Joint CP (Crime Branch).

Joginder is involved in more than 100 cases of theft, robbery, dacoity and Arms Act. He was also involved in firing at a police party in Khyala in 2010, the officer said.

The duo were involved in firing at the car of Santosh Kumar Tripathy, who owns a transport company, on the night of 25 August.

9. Misconduct Against Women Staff Must Be Dealt With Sternly: HC


Any misconduct against women employees must be dealt with most sternly, the Bombay High Court on Tuesday said and asked organisations to draw up a list of "dos and dont's" for male employees over the conduct towards female staff.

A Division Bench headed by Justice VM Kanade referred to a judgement of the US Supreme Court and cited that "sexual misconduct cannot be viewed in a vacuum" and that employers and organisations must identify the "underlying threat of violence" in such conduct against women.
