1. Landlord Kills Woman, Injures Sister

A landlord allegedly killed a 27-year-old woman and injured her sister after an argument started between them over a house-related issue in Meerut. The landlord Altaf had asked Shajia and Bushra (24) to vacate his house.

After they got into an argument, the landlord stabbed Shajia to death and injured Bushra.

2. Two More Arrested in Relation to NIA Officer’s Murder Case

Two more people have been arrested in connection with the fatal attack on NIA officer Tanzil Ahmad and his wife on 3 April, taking the number of arrests to four, even as efforts are on to nab the alleged mastermind.

Ahmad’s wife, Farzana Khatoon, succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday morning. She was battling for her life at AIIMS Trauma Centre after suffering bullet wounds, NIA said in a statement.

Rizvan and Tanzeem were arrested this morning and produced in court, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Dharmveer Singh said.

Two of the accused Rehan and Zainul, who were arrested on Tuesday, had claimed that Rizvan and Tanzeem too were involved in the conspiracy, following which the arrests were made, Singh said.

3. BJP MP Naran Kachhadiya Convicted for Assaulting a Doctor

BJP MP Naran Kachhadiya was sentenced to jail for three years on Wednesday by a court in Amreli for assaulting a doctor in 2013.

Due to his conviction, under the new rules, he will be disqualified as a Member of Parliament.

4. Man Killed For Marrying Against Family’s Wishes

Some relatives of a woman allegedly killed a 26-year-old man at Ulhasnagar, Maharashtra for marrying the woman against the wishes of the family. The couple got married just six days ago.

Pankaj and his girlfriend Pooja Soudhe, both residents of Ulhasnagar, wanted to tie the knot. However, since her family was against the marriage, they had gone for a court marriage six days back.

5. Teenage Girl Kidnapped in Thane, Found in Punjab

A 22-year-old youth allegedly kidnapped and raped a 16-year-old girl in Thane and took her to Ludhiana, where she was found by the police on Wednesday.

Manish Munnilal Mourya was arrested after the police tracked the girl while they were trying to gather their mobile phone locations.

6. Mercedes Hit-and-Run Case: Can the Juvenile be Tried as an Adult?

Legal experts believe that the Juvenile Justice Board is competent to decide whether the boy who has been accused in the Delhi Mercedes hit-and-run case should be tried as an adult. The incident took place just four days short of his 18th birthday.

Since the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act of 2015 has come into force on 1 January 2016, whether the accused teenager cab driver be tried as an adult should be decided by the JJB.

7. Man Rapes Daughter in Kanpur

A man allegedly raped his 11-year-old daughter in Kanpur to take revenge on his wife on Wednesday.

According to reports, the accused man’s wife had left the house with their three other children after having an argument with her husband.

The wife filed a complaint against her husband after she returned home.

8. Man Stabs Wife in New Delhi

A man allegedly stabbed his wife several times on Tuesday night because she took up a job at a nearby factory in northwest Delhi’s Shahabad Dairy area.

The accused, Anand, who is a driver, came back from work one day and started abusing his wife, Pushpa. At the end of the argument, he attacked her with a kitchen-knife.

9. Delhi Police Sieze 26 Pistols

The Delhi police special cell arrested a gunrunner, who was set to supply 26 sophisticated pistols to an arms dealer in Dhaula Kuan, New Delhi.

The accused previously worked as a private security guard in Madhya Pradesh and has a gun licence.

We got a tip-off that an inter-state weapons supplier with connections to criminals in UP and Haryana would come to Delhi to supply a consignment of arms. A team led by DCP PS Khuswah was formed to track him down. It was found that he was carrying the weapons in specially modified canisters.
