1. AAP MLA Booked for ‘Misbehaving’ With Police Official

An Aam Aadmi Party MLA was booked for allegedly misbehaving with a police official on duty in northeast Delhi’s Rohtash Nagar area on Sunday. The charge has been denied by the legislator.

According to the police, legislator Sarita Singh’s driver allegedly hit the police official’s motorbike while reversing his car. The officer, identified as assistant sub-inspector Om Pal, was deployed as part of security arrangement at an event in the area.

2. Auto Driver Robs Passengers After Crash That Killed one

An auto hit a divider and overturned, pinning a badly injured passenger Subodh Srivastav underneath and knocking his wife and teenager son out cold, 15 km from Anand Vihar railway station.

As Srivastav, a software engineer, lay bleeding to death, Sushma recovered consciousness only to see the auto-rickshaw driver righting his vehicle and speeding away with their luggage.

4. Driver’s Death Sparks Violence in Godhra, Two Cops Hurt

Tension prevailed in Godhra town on Sunday as a mob targeted the police and state transport buses following the death of a truck driver. It was alleged that the driver had died after he was thrashed by the police.

The driver had left Visnagar with a stock of cotton and was on his way to Madhya Pradesh. The crew of the truck comprised two other members, besides the driver.The crew took a break at a hotel at Asaydi village in Devgadh Baria taluk. The driver started feeling ill at the time and died.

5. Fake Bill Scam – Don’t Want Relief Money, Return Papers: Claimants

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is used to getting requests from the public seeking monetary support from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) that helps ailing patients who can’t afford costly treatment.

We had recently sent a cheque of Rs 1 lakh to a person who had sought relief from CMRF for his kidney ailment. But he came to our office to return the cheque and insisted that we return his application and documents. Not showing any mercy, we got a criminal complaint registered.

The investigation into the fake medical bills scam pertaining to the CMRF has also unearthed a deeply entrenched network involving brokers, secretariat staff, doctors and hospitals.

6. Drivers, Hawkers & Vendors Made Directors in BoB Scam

Rasool, 40, sells vegetables on his cart in north Delhi. Last year, he became the director of a company, without even knowing it, for a remuneration of Rs 10,000 per month.

Like Rasool (name changed), 58 other people, mostly living in slums and working as rickshaw-pullers, street vendors, drivers, household workers, etc, became pseudo-entrepreneurs after they were approached by black money hoarders in what has come to be known as the Bank of Baroda money laundering scandal.

7. IPS Officer Mother’s Chain Snatched in Lucknow

A miscreant on Sunday entered the parental home of an IPS officer in Gomtinagar and fled after snatching a gold chain from the officer’s mother.

Around 3: 45 pm on Saturday, a man reached Urmila Gangwar’s house located in Vishal Khand II, Gomtinagar on a scooter. When he rang the bell, Urmila, a senior citizen, answered.The man asked her if he could get a room on rent, as Urmila proceeded to show her the house, he pounced on her neck and snatched away her gold chain.

8. Speeding Bus Runs Over Six year-old Girl, Villagers Stage Traffic Jam

A six year-old girl was killed when a speeding bus ran her over at Chorbhatti in Raipur under Chakarbhata police station on Sunday. Angry villagers resorted to traffic jam on the road. The jam was opened after PWD officials arrived at the spot and began constructing a speed breaker on the road.

9. Second Rhino Killed in Kaziranga in a Month

The Kaziranga national park has lost its second rhino to poachers this month, even as the forest department has stepped up anti-poaching operations in the world heritage site.

A gang of poachers with sophisticated firearms killed a rhino at Burapahar forest range of the park on Sunday.

Park officials said that the poachers fired over 30 rounds of bullets even as forest guards tried to stop them from escaping. In the firing spree, the poachers managed to flee with the rhino’s horn.
