1. Amity Student Shot Dead 

A 21-year-old student of Amity University was allegedly shot dead by another student in his flat in Noida.

Ramaraju Sandesh, a first year Marine Science student from Amity University was allegedly shot dead by another student at the Lotus Bouleward Apartment of Sector 100 in Noida, Zahir Khan, SHO of Sector 39 police station said.

2. Mumbai Cops Allegedly Thrash Muslim Youth, Dub Them ‘Pak Agents’

Some Mumbai policemen allegedly beat up two Muslim youth at a police station in suburban Bandra. Allegations have been made that the cops had also asked them to go to Pakistan for being “agents” of that country. This after they had a fight with the policemen, prompting authorities to launch a probe into the incident. The youths, Asif Sheikh and Danish Sheikh (both 19), had alleged that they were assaulted by police inspector Kedar Pawar and others in Bandra police station.

3. Two Juveniles Nabbed for Allegedly Raping Toddler in Delhi

Two juveniles have been apprehended for abducting and raping a two-and-a-half-year-old girl in west Delhi’s Nangloi area. The incident took place on Friday night. Police say the accused live in the same neighbourhood.

The two 17-year-olds were nabbed on Saturday night after more than 250 suspects were rounded up and questioned.

4. Woman Army Officer Alleges Sexual Harassment by Senior

A woman army officer, who had taken part in the Republic Day parade this year to showcase ‘Nari Shakti’, has filed a sexual harassment case against her commanding officer.

The 26-year-old Captain of the Signal Corps is posted at Alwar Military Station in Rajasthan and was commissioned into the Indian Army only in March 2013.

The woman officer’s father has now written a letter about the incident to Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar.

5. Four-Woman Gang Steals Gold Jewellery in Pune

A gang of four women stole a pair of gold earrings worth Rs 20,000 by diverting the attention of the owner of a jewellery shop on Paud Road.

Rajas Saraf, owner of Ramai Jewellers, has lodged a complaint with the Kothrud police station. Sub-inspector Vikram Rajput said Saraf, his wife and other employees were in the shop when the suspects entered the shop on the pretext of buying earrings.

6. Australian Harassed in Bengaluru Over Tattoo

A group of people harassed an Australian couple at a restaurant, even threatening to skin the young man’s leg, for sporting the tattoo of Hindu goddess Yellamma on his shin.

Their ordeal did not end there as the city police not only detained them but also forced the man to apologise to the group for ‘hurting their religious sentiments.’

“One of them came to me and confronted me about my tattoo. Soon, they surrounded us and threatened to skin my leg and remove the tattoo,” the victim told The Hindu.

7. Engineering Students Protest Against Harassment in Chennai

A group of engineering college students, along with students from various organisations, took part in a rally on Marina Beach to condemn the death of Madhukumar, a private engineering college student who set himself on fire alleging harassment by one college staff members.

“Apart from this, there are a number of issues in engineering colleges, including moral policing of students, disregard for student privacy, and violation of student rights,” one of the students said.

8. Himachal Lynching: Police Arrest ‘Main Suspect’

The Himachal Pradesh police on Sunday arrested a man suspected to be involved in the lynching of an alleged cow smuggler near Lawasa village in Sirmaur district in Shimla last week. Superintendent of Police Sirmaur Somuya Sambasivan told The Indian Express that the arrest was made on the basis of electronic evidence, rigorous investigations over the past 48 hour and eye-witness statements.

9. Two North-East Women Disappear, Delhi Police Seek Help

Two young women, a 19-year-old from Nagaland and a 23-year-old from Manipur have reportedly disappeared under mysterious circumstances in Delhi last week.

The Delhi Police has now shared their details in the hope of finding leads to their whereabouts. Chlovi and Awale were reported missing since 14th October and a case has been registered in South Delhi’s Greater Kailash Police Station.
