1. 4-Year-Old Trafficked Boy Rescued After 5 Months
A 4-year-old boy, kidnapped and trafficked five months ago, has been rescued by the Delhi Police, reports The Hindu.
The boy was about to be sold to a childless couple in Saudi Arabia, but the transaction did not go through as he was unable to “adjust” with them, said the police.

2. Two Fruit Vendors Brutally Beaten Up in Delhi; One Dead
Two fruit vendors were allegedly bound with ropes and brutally beaten up in north-west Delhi’s Azadpur area, leading to the death of one of the vendors, reports The Hindu.
The accused involved in the fatal assault are allegedly security guards who kept a watch on Azadpur wholesale market. The guards later told the police they mistook the victims for thieves, as they were carrying a carton of apples.

3. 13-Year-Old Girl Accuses Mother of Selling Her off into Sex Trade
A 13-year-old girl has filed a police complaint against her mother at Memari in Burdwan district, alleging that the woman had sold her for Rs 60,000 to traffickers in Kolkata who had sexually abused her, police said.
The girl further alleged that she and another trafficked woman were forced to board a UP-bound train on 8 January at Bidhan Nagar Road station in Kolkata in the custody of a female trafficker, but they managed to elude the agent as the train halted at Burdwan junction.

4. Air India Pilot Caught Shoplifting Sunglasses at Mumbai Airport
Shoplifting sunglasses at Mumbai airport turned out to be much costlier than their actual price, for an Air India pilot, who was caught and asked to pay Rs 2.4 lakh as penalty.
The pilot, who was operating a flight between Mumbai and Thiruvananthapuram was trying on sunglasses at a duty-free shop and allegedly kept one in his pocket, according to Hindustan Times.
The sunglasses cost about Rs 24,000.

5. Cop Caught on Tape Groping Women in Ahmedabad
In a shocking video accessed by Ahmedabad Mirror, a police officer is found to be strolling through the crowd while groping women and girls along the way.
In the minute-long video, the man in police uniform can be seen inappropriately touching two young girls and another teenage girl coming his way.
Police has taken suo motu cognisance of the disturbing act of the man, whose face is not visible in the video, and started investigating the case.

6. Woman ‘Forced’ to Marry Her ‘Rapist’ in Tamil Nadu
A Tamil Nadu woman, who had resisted a Madras High Court suggestion to marry the man she accused of raping her when she was a minor, had to return to him with her daughter, born out of the rape.
This decision of the woman came after his conviction was set aside by another High Court judge and her case sent back to the lower court, reports The Indian Express.

7. CRPF Kills Five Maoists After Fierce Gun Battle
Five Maoists have been killed in an encounter with the elite commando unit of the CRPF after a fierce gun battle in the jungles of Aurangabad district of Bihar.
The operation was conducted by the troops of the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) unit of the CRPF which has been raised by the force exclusively for jungle warfare operations.
A commando of the 205th battalion of the CoBRA has been injured in the encounter. Officials added that they have recovered an A-K series assault rifle, one carbine, a country-made gun and some other ammunition from the spot.

8. Bengaluru Woman Offers Massage, Flees with Gold
A homemaker in her mid-40s was duped by a woman who gave her massages at home and later fled with the gold even as the client waited at the massage table, according to a report in The Times of India.
The accused asked Lakshmi Narasimha to relax and went out on the pretext of checking if the oil was on boil. However, even after a while, the woman didn’t return. The homemaker got out of the bed to check on Lakshmi and found her gold missing along with the masseuse

9. CBI Arrests Pearls Group Chief in Connection with Rs 45,000 Crore Scam
The CBI has arrested chairman and managing director of Pearls Group, Nirmal Singh Bhangoo, and three other top officials in connection with a Rs 45,000-crore alleged scam in which 5.5 crore investors were duped.
CBI’s FIR alleges that funds were raised by Pearls Agrotech Corporation Ltd (PACL) and Pearls Golden Forest Ltd (PGF) through a vast network of commission agents spread all over the country, who were being paid hefty commissions for luring the investors.
