1. Ten Held Guilty for Mumbai Triple Blasts

A Special POTA Court on Tuesday found 10 accused guilty and acquitted three others for the triple bomb blasts that shook Mumbai between December 2002 and March 2003 killing at least 12 people and injuring scores of others.

POTA Special Judge PR Deshmukh scheduled the hearing on the quantum of sentence for the 10 accused on Wednesday, reports The Pioneer.

The first blast occurred near the McDonald’s eatery in the main building of Mumbai Central Terminus on December 6, 2002, followed by another in a market in Vile Parle on January 27, 2003 and the third in a crowded ladies first class compartment of a suburban train near Mulund on March 13.

2. Man Tied to Moving Train in MP For ‘Having Water Without Permission’

A 25-year-old youth was allegedly beaten up and tied to the outside of a train by three youths from Bihar because he drank water from their bottle despite being told not to do so, reports The Indian Express.

A video of the incident has gone viral on social media.

Sumit Kachhi Patel, a resident of a village under Majhgavan Police Station in Jabalpur district, was rescued by vendors when the Patliputra Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Superfast Express reached Itarsi railway station early Saturday.

Government Railway Police (GRP) officers, who had reached the station, booked the three accused under IPC sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) and 294 (obscene acts and songs).

3. Delhi Man Kills Wife, Calls it Suicide

A 32-year-old man allegedly killed his wife on Holi in their Taimoor Nagar house in southeast Delhi and tried to show that she had committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan.

However, the accused, Kapil Sharma, was arrested after the autopsy report proved that she had been smothered to death, reports The Times of India.

Sharma, a male nurse, smothered his wife Parvati (27) and then took the body to a hospital telling the staff that she had committed suicide.

When doctors found several injury marks on the body they got suspicious. They called up the New Friend’s Colony police station and sent the body for postmortem. After the autopsy report confirmed murder, Sharma was arrested on Saturday.

4. Minor Dalit Girl Raped by Policeman in Uttar Pradesh

A minor Dalit girl was allegedly raped by a policeman. The accused was arrested on Tuesday.

The 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by Constable Rajesh Yadav (48) on 24 March (Holi), the police said. The girl narrated the entire incident to her mother the next day, who took her to the police station but her complaint was not lodged.

Meanwhile, the accused allegedly pressurised the family to settle the matter.

5. Wanted in Jharkhand, Found in Calcutta

A 30-year-old man, wanted in Jharkhand and Bihar in connection with abductions and murders, was arrested in Kolkata early on Tuesday.

Officers of a joint police team (Kolkata and Jharkhand) picked up Dimpu Singh and his driver Anil Ram around 1.30 am from a guest house in the Ekbalpore police station area, reports The Telegraph.

Dimpu of Saran in Bihar, who lived in a rented house in Ranchi’s Chutia, is accused of shooting a liquor trader, Anup Chawla, in Ranchi last year. He is also an accused in the 2012 murder of a policeman’s son near Ranchi’s Guru Nanak School.

A Kolkata police officer said the Ranchi police alerted them about Singh and Ram hiding in Ekbalpore.

6. National-Level Weightlifter Held For Robbery

A 21-year-old national-level weightlifter has been arrested for allegedly smashing a biker’s head with a brick and robbing him of Rs 4 lakh, reports The Hindu.

Identified as Sumeet Panchal, the accused has won a gold medal at the state level in 2012 and has represented Haryana at the national-level competitions held in Bangalore and Udaipur in 2013.

The alleged crime involving Panchal took place a month ago in Outer Delhi’s Rohini. Two youths transporting money for someone were allegedly intercepted by Panchal and his associate while the victims were riding a scooty near Mount Abu School in Rohini’s Sector 5.

According to Vijay Singh, DCP (North-West), Panchal and his associate first struck the victims with bricks on their heads before snatching away their scooty and Rs 4 lakh cash, reports The Hindu .

7. Madrassa Boys Thrashed For Not Saying Bharat Mata Ki Jai

Three madrassa students have alleged that they were beaten up by a group of men in outer Delhi’s Ramesh Enclave for refusing to chant Bharat Mata ki Jai, reports The Times of India.

One of the victims, Mohammad Dilkash, 18, said his arm was broken in the attack as the five men, who had been drinking in a public park, beat them with sticks on Saturday evening after demanding that the students chant the slogan.

Police registered an FIR in the case on Tuesday night. They had earlier recorded the victims’ statements and said they were verifying certain details, according to The Times of India report.

8. Businessman, Kin Held For Killing Youth for Insurance Money

A forensic test to ascertain the age of a body last month has landed a Maharashtra businessman in jail, reports The Indian Express.

The police have arrested 32-year-old Amol Pawar and his brother Vinayak for the murder of 19-year-old Ramesh Naik in an attempt to pass off the body as that of Amol and claim an insurance amount of Rs 30 crore.

The police said Ramesh, from Bijapur in north Karnataka, was lured by Amol Pawar on the pretext of providing him a job.

9. Hyderabad: Man Kills Two Sons, Ends Life

Troubled over a fight with his wife over financial issues, a 34-year-old man from Kurnool, killed his two sons and committed suicide in Hyderabad’s Mahabubnagar district on Monday night, reports Deccan Chronicle.

The police said that Isaac, after a fight with wife Ramadevi, hit his children on their heads with an unidentified weapon and strangled them. He later hanged himself.

According to Mahabubnagar Police, Isaac and Ramadevi got married nearly six years ago and they along with their two young children were residing at Kurnool.
