1. Sonia Gandhi to visit Rae Bareli Today

Congress President and Rae Bareli MP Sonia Gandhi will inaugurate works done under the MP Local Area Development (MPLAD) funds during a day-long visit today. She will arrive at the Fursatganj airport, and drive to the Bhueymau guest house where she will distribute cheques to the families of the victims of Bachra.

2. MHA to Challenge Delhi HC Observation on Notification

The Union Home Ministry is likely to challenge the Delhi High Court’s ruling on the Centre’s recent notification barring the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) of Delhi government from acting against central government officers. There is a possibility of the Ministry approaching the Supreme Court today, a senior official said.

3. Amit Shah to visit Goa Today

BJP President Amit Shah will arrive in Goa today on a two-day-visit to take stock of the political situation in the state. Speaking to mediapersons, BJP State President Vinay Tendulkar said that a warm welcome would be given to him at the airport by Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, ministers, and office bearers.

4. Raghuram Rajan to Arrive in Srinagar Today

The Reserve Bank Governor Raghuram Rajan will arrive at Srinagar today for a two-day visit focussing on rehabilitation of last year’s flood-affected people in the valley.

5. INS Vikrant Launch Today

India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant, will be undocked on completion of structural work at the Cochin Shipyard today. “All major equipment has gone into the vessel, which has now acquired the shape of an aircraft carrier, with a finished hull. Barring a bit of ongoing work on the super structure, structural work is all over and the internal compartments have all been welded in,” said a yard official.

6. Six Witnesses in Salman Khan Poaching Case to be Re-examined

The defence team for Salman Khan, who faces two cases of poaching and illegal use of arms in Rajasthan, and who has filed appeals against conviction in two other poaching cases, will re-examine six witnesses in the chief judicial magistrate’s court in Jodhpur today.

7. FIPB to Consider Kotak Mahindra Bank’s FDI Proposal

Inter-ministerial body FIPB will take up Kotak Mahindra Bank’s proposal for raising foreign investment limit in the bank to 55 per cent, along with 47 other FDI applications. A total of 48 investment proposals are listed on the agenda of 218th meeting of the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB), scheduled today.

8. SAI Rape Case: Charges to be Framed Today

A trial court could not frame charges against Narayan Sai and 20 other accused in a rape case, as six of the accused submitted discharge applications at the last moment on Friday. The discharge pleas were heard by additional sessions judge LF Pirzada who scheduled the ruling today. It said that charges would also be framed today.

9. Yemen Peace Talks to Begin in Geneva Today

The United Nations said talks for a diplomatic solution to fighting in Yemen will begin today in Geneva, in what could be the first resumption of political dialogue since Saudi Arabia began a campaign of airstrikes in the Arab country in March.
