Narendra Modi’s association – or rather his Twitter handle’s – with trolls and controversial pages is not new, and the Prime Minister has even been called out for it. The latest to catch Modi’s attention is Kshitij Bajpai, a cartoonist and caricature artist who sketched an illustration of the prime minister at one of his rallies in Karnataka.

Modi was quick to appreciate the artwork, as he thanked the “extremely talented” Bajpai.

However, the Prime Minister seems to be unaware of Bajpai’s previous work.

The cartoonist has a different side to him – he is blatantly misogynistic, disturbingly communal, and clearly propagates an anti-Muslim agenda. Here’s a glimpse at some of Bajpai’s sketches.

Sketches Against Muslims

Be it issues of rape or politics, Bajpai’s sketches reek of bigotry and hatred for Muslims.

Kathua Rape Case

There are a number of sketches against Bollywood actresses who spoke up against the Kathua rape case. Many of the sketches also slam the media attention that the rape of a ‘Muslim girl’ in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir, garnered – and rapes of ‘Hindu girls’ in a madrasa in Ghaziabad and Assam that were “being ignored.”

Posts on Women

While illustrating a number of issues – be it on politics or Padmaavat – the theme of rape and sexual harassment is dominant in Bajpai’s sketches. The posts are most often vulgar and misogynistic.

Rahul Gandhi a Target

Bajpai’s love for Modi is clear from his sketches, showing PM Modi as a larger-than-life figure with a 56-inch chest. While some of his cartoons do have a funny take on BJP leaders, most of his sketches are scathing, sometimes personal attacks on Congress president Rahul Gandhi.

It is not entirely clear whether the prime minister is aware of Bajpai’s controversial ideology and previous work.
