Dasara is one of the biggest festivals in Karnataka, with thousands flocking to Mysuru. From the illuminated Mysore Palace to the grand elephant procession, Mysuru Dasara offers a visual treat for the visitors.
But what goes on behind the scenes of this annual festival? What do preparations look like from inside the palace?
The Maharaja of Mysuru provides a small peek into what preparing for Dasara looks like from within the palace walls. From the police band practicing in the early hours of the morning, a first look of the lit-up palace to a rainy vista of the palace grounds, Maharaja Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar uses Instagram stories to offer perhaps a never-before-seen side of the run-up to the festival.
The 25-year-old Maharaja is tech savvy and is active on all social media platforms. Following the death of his uncle and former king Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, Srikantadatta’s wife Pramoda Devi adopted Yaduveer and made him the 27th Maharaja of Mysuru in 2015.
This is Yaduveer’s third Dasara. Even during previous dasaras he had been posting photos from the palace for his social media followers.
Not just during Dasara, throughout the year Yaduveer Wadiyar has been bringing glimpses of palace life to people.
