REALITY

The image is in fact a shot from Mark Robson’s 1963 Hollywood production ‘Nine Hours to Rama.’

The film was banned in India upon its release as it was a heavily fictionalised account of the plot to assassinate Gandhi based on Stanley Wolpert’s 1962 novel by the same name.

HOW DID WE FIND OUT?

Multiple comments on the tweet suggested that the photo is from a movie. Upon searching with the keywords 'Gandhi assassination documentary image', The Quint came across a Scroll article debunking the claim.

The Quint could then access the YouTube link of the clipping of the film and independently verify that the image is a shot from the same.
