The Election Commission on Sunday lodged two FIRs against Trinamool strongman and Birbhum district chief Anubrata Mondal for violating statutory orders and the poll code.

The first complaint was registered against the controversial leader under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code for showing disobedience to order duly promulgated by a public servant.

Mondal had been asked to restrict his movement within his constituency but he moved out disregarding the advice, West Bengal chief electoral officer Sunil Gupta said at Kolkata.

The second FIR was filed as he had cast his vote by entering a booth sporting the party symbol on his shirt.

As per the model code of conduct, no one is allowed to “display any posters, flags, symbols or any other propaganda material inside the booth on polling day”.

We monitored his activity. A detailed report was sent to the Election Commission on Saturday night. He moved out of constituency even after being advised against it.
