The three deceased men — Naushad Quraishi, Raju Nat and Videshi Nat — were from the neighbouring Paigambarpur village, sources told The Quint.

'Why No Law on Mob Lynching Yet?': Owaisi

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Asaduddin Owaisi, in the Lok Sabha on Friday, raised the question of mob lynching. He said that despite the Supreme Court order last year, to formulate a law on the issue of mob lynching, the government has not acted on it yet.

The discussion took place when the Protection of Human Rights (Amendment) Bill 2019 was passed in the Lok Sabha on Friday.

“If you make all SC’s orders into laws, why not this?” asked Owaisi, explicitly stating the Bihar incident.

Expressing his discontent over the incessant rise in mob lynchings in the country, he urged the government to take up this issue.

Addressing Home Minister Amit Shah, he said that "If some organisations are not banned today, the ones that are openly harming the people of this country, especially the minorities, will only prove dangerous to you in the future."

‘They Were Pick-Up Van Drivers, Not Thieves’: Relatives

Relatives of the victims have approached the police and said that the three were drivers of pick-up vans and had been mistaken for thieves, The Indian Express reported.

"The state government should order an investigation into the incident and those guilty of the crime should be given strict punishment,” former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD leader Rabri Devi told reporters on Friday.

An investigation is underway and the bodies have been sent for post-mortem by the police.
