Standard incandescent bulbs may cause skin damage, according to a study by researchers at Stony Brook University. The ultraviolet radiation seeping through CFLs may damage skin cells. According to this research, cells exposed to certain infrared LED light grow and heal up to 200 percent faster that cells not stimulated by LEDs. Among other benefits, LEDs aid healing of radiation-induced dermatitis and other skin ailments. LEDs also enrich skin by making it supple and less prone to aging.

Your colleague’s ranting is not as big an irritant as the bright lights in your office. Most stress experienced by humans comes from the lights in their surroundings. Incandescent bulbs tend to affect the mental and physical makeup, thereby, leading to less efficiency and greater health hazards.
They can lead to an array of problems like eye strain, anxiety and frequent migraines. LEDs are far more effective as they don’t flicker compared to CFLs and, with their blue lighting, help keep stress at bay.

Artworks are a heavy investment and often we don’t know how to preserve them. Light plays a crucial role in maintaining the longevity of art. Often bad lighting can diminish the quality of the art piece and lessen its value. LED bulbs have halogen lights that eventually burn away at the materials.
Two years ago, the Louvre renovated the entire Red room and the Mona Lisa space with LED lights. This increased the colour rendering of the paintings, totally suppressed UV and IR radiation, and reduced the electricity consumption of the Louvre.
Lowers Your Electricity Bill
It’s hard to believe, but LED lights will not add to your electricity bills. With the introduction of the Domestic Efficient Lighting Programme (DELP) scheme, consumers can now see a significant drop in their monthly electricity bills. The consumer will get a high-quality LED bulb at one-third the market price. Consumers’ electricity bills will reduce by about Rs 150-250 per year with each LED, thus making the cost recovery possible in less than a year.
This will lead to savings in electricity and lower consumption of fossil fuels, thus, benefitting the environment.

The DELP scheme initiated by Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) enables consumers to purchase LED lights from designated counters at a nominal price of Rs 93. You can buy a limited set of the bulbs at this price.
