Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari on Sunday, 5 January, approved the allocation of portfolios as proposed by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has been allocated finance, while Anil Deshmukh is the new home minister.

Shiv Sena scion Aaditya Thackeray will handle tourism, environment and protocol, and Balasaheb Thorat has been given the revenue ministry.

The Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi government faced criticism from the opposition BJP for delay in allocating portfolios despite being in power for over a month now.

Ajit Pawar Gets Finance, Aaditya Thackeray Environment

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and senior NCP leader Ajit Pawar has been allocated the finance and planning department, while his party colleague Anil Deshmukh is the new Home minister of the state.

First-time Shiv Sena MLA Aaditya Thackeray, who is the son of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, has been given charge of the environment, tourism and protocol departments.

Senior Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat got the revenue ministry.

With this allocation of portfolios, the Sharad Pawar- led NCP has got most of the 'plum' ministries, PTI reported.

Jalna Cong MLA to Resign from Party Posts Over Cabinet Berth Snub

Irked at not being made a minister in the Maharashtra government, Congress MLA from Jalna Kailash Gorantyal on Saturday said he would resign from party posts along with several office-bearers and workers.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had, on Monday, expanded his council of ministers by inducting 26 Cabinet and 10 ministers of state.

Gorantyal said the decision was taken at a meeting of the district Congress committee on Saturday.

“I will meet Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee president Balasaheb Thorat and submit my resignation from party posts. Party members of the Jalna Municipal Council, Zilla Parishad will also submit their resignations along with me,” he said.

'Haven't Resigned,' Says Sena Minister Abdul Sattar

Amid reports of resigning from the post of Maharashtra minister as prolonged talks over portfolio allocation continue, Shiv Sena leader Abdul Sattar said that he will talk to CM Thackeray first.

“I have not resigned. I am going to talk to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray at Matoshree. After that, whatever decision will be taken by the CM, we will accept it,” he said.
