1. Man Throws Son in Canal in Inebriated State

A 31-year-old man allegedly threw his son in the Agra Canal in an inebriated condition as he was crying and demanding for momos, police said on Sunday, 27 May.

Police were informed about the incident on Saturday.

During investigation, it was found that one Sanjay Alwi, who was under the influence of alcohol, had come to Khadar Puliya with his six-year-old son. His son was crying for momos, they added.

Suddenly, he threw his son into the canal from the Khadar Puliya. Passersby saw him throwing the child and informed the cops, police said.

2. 11-Year-Old Kidnapped, Raped in Baramati; 42-Year-Old Arrested

A 42-year-old man was arrested by the Vadgaon Nimbalkar police for allegedly kidnapping and raping a 11-year-old girl in Wanewadi area, Baramati taluka of Pune district on Saturday, 26 May.

According to the police, the incident took place near a village on Saturday evening when the man allegedly accosted the girl, who had gone to buy groceries, and forced her to sit on his two-wheeler.

According to Bapu Bangar, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP), the incident took place between 6.30 pm and 11 pm on Saturday.

3. Wife Refuses to Go Home, Drunken Man Batters 2-Yr-Old Daughter to Death

A drunken man allegedly battered his two-year-old daughter to death in Jharkhand’s Dumka district after his wife refused to go home from her parents’ house, police said.

The incident took place at Badalpur Tola under Tongra police station on Saturday, 26 May.

Imaru Murmu (28), resident of Hathiya Pathar village under Masalia block, was arrested and sent to Dumka jail on Sunday following an FIR by his wife, said Tongra police station in-charge Rajiv Ranjan.

4. Panchayat Member in Bihar Arrested for Sexually Abusing Widow After Clip Goes Viral

Gaya police have once again stumbled upon a viral video of sexual abuse in which a panchayat committee member and his friend are allegedly seen abusing a widow.

Police have arrested the panchayat committee member, Lakshmi Das, while his associate and the victim woman are traceless. The video clip also shows her four-year-old son being overpowered by the friend, who is also shooting the video.

Das is a member of the Ghoraghat panchayat committee under Dobhi police station, 35 km south of Gaya district headquarters.

5. Thane Builder Lodges FIR Against Three, Including Doctor, for ‘Cheating Him of Rs 65 lakh’

A Thane builder has lodged an FIR against three people including a doctor in Kalyan for allegedly cheating him. While one person has been arrested by Kalyan police, two others are absconding, sources said.

According to Khadakpada police, Avinash Patil, a builder from Bhiwandi lodged the case of cheating. “According to the complainant, he met the accused in 2014. When the accused realised that the complainant was in need of a loan of a few crores, they promised to arrange it,” said an officer investigating the case said.

6. To Check Crime, Delhi Top Cop Says Verify Migrants in Unauthorised Colonies

Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik has directed deputy commissioners of police (DCP) of all 14 districts to conduct verification of migrants who live in unauthorised colonies in areas under their jurisdiction.

The directive — which states that district DCPs should start drives in unauthorised colonies of their areas for “verification and checking” of migrants so that they are not engaged in any illegal activity — was issued at the recent crime review meeting at the Delhi Police headquarters.

Sources said the order comes days after the top cop found that despite repeated reminders, local police were not conducting verification of migrants or maintaining a database of them.

7. Rohingya Camp Gutted in Haryana’s Nuh District

A Rohingya refugee camp in Haryana’s Nuh district was gutted Sunday, 27 May, after a major fire broke out in the area. Although no casualty was reported, over 50 families have been affected by the blaze.

Fire department officials said a call was received regarding the blaze in Chandeni around 3.25 pm, following which three fire tenders were rushed to the spot.

“It took us almost three hours to douse the flames,” said a fire officer.

“Prima facie, the blaze appears to have been caused by a short circuit,” he added.

Inspector Sanjay Kumar, SHO, Nuh police station, said, “No one was killed or injured, but the shanties were entirely gutted. Nobody has approached us to register a case so far.”

8. Man Shoots at Woman, Kills Self in Faridabad

A Faridabad resident opened fire at a woman on Sunday, 27 May, before turning the revolver on himself. Police said the man, Lokesh, died at the spot. They suspect that the crime could be a result of unrequited love.

According to police, the incident took place around 6 pm at a finance company in NIT area, where the woman worked.

Sources said the two were friends for three years and Lokesh wanted to marry her, but neither family approved. “Lokesh went to the woman’s office. They got into an argument… he fired at her and then himself,” said Jai Prakash, ACP (NIT).
