Speaking at a rally in Churu in Rajasthan, hours after the air force’s strikes across the Line of Control (LoC), Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “Today, I assure the countrymen, the country is in safe hands.”

“Today is the day to pay homage to India's bravehearts,” he said.

Recounting his slogan from the 2014 general election, he said, “Today, I repeat what I said back in 2014: Saugandh mujhe iss mitti ki main desh nahi mitne doonga, main desh nahi rukne doonga. Main desh nahi jhukne doonga... Mera vachan hai Bharat Maa ko, tera sheesh nahi jhukne doonga...” (I take a vow I won’t let this country stop in its tracks...I take a vow I won’t let this country bow down), adding that nothing is above nation.

He further said that he is able to take strong decisions as he holds the country in higher importance than any party or individual.

He also said that the government has lived up to the old motto of “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan”. He asserted, while on one hand, the government has implemented One Rank One Pension (OROP), which benefited lakhs of army men, on the other hand, the PM Kisan Nidhi will put assured income in the hands of farmers.
