1. Woman Raped by Boyfriend, His Accomplices

A woman was raped allegedly by her boyfriend and his two associates in Odisha's Sundergarh district, while her female companion managed to flee, police said on Thursday, 31 October.

All the three accused were arrested.

The victim went near a forest under Kumarmunda police station limits on Tuesday evening after her boyfriend called her up asking her to meet him there. She went there along with another woman, according to the FIR.

Two other men reached the spot while she was talking to him and the three dragged her inside the forest, she alleged.

2. Maharashtra: Man Booked for Raping 15-year-Old Stepdaughter

An offence has been registered against a man for allegedly raping his stepdaughter over a period of one month at Waliv town in Palghar, Maharashtra, an official from the district rural police said on Thursday, 31 October.

In her complaint, the 15-year-old victim stated that the accused had repeatedly raped her for a month and had threatened her with dire consequences if she revealed the same to anyone, the official said.

The Waliv police have registered an offence under sections 376 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code and also relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).

3. Dispute over Rs 2.5 cr Land Led to MP Realtor's Killing; 4 Held

A dispute over a land parcel worth Rs 2.5 crore led to the murder of a realty developer in Indore last week, police said on Thursday, 31 October as it claimed to have solved the case with the arrest of four persons.

Addressing a press conference here in Madhya Pradesh, Additional Director General of Police (Indore Range), Varun Kapoor, identified the arrested accused as Shashikant, Nayan Mandloi, Shubham and Sonu alias 'Cigarette'.

The four were arrested in connection with the killing of real estate developer Arvind Parmar, he said.

4. Auto Driver Kills Neighbour, Injures Wife After Tiff Over Urinating in Public

An autorickshaw driver allegedly murdered his 50-year-old neighbour and critically injured the latter’s wife after the couple objected to him urinating next to their house in a slum pocket in Goregaon (West), early on Thursday, 31 October. The accused, identified as Amit Saurav, is on the run, said the police.

According to police, Saurav stabbed Nandlal Kanojiya and his wife, Urmila, 40, around 3.45am. Saurav was with another person, whom the police are yet to identify, when the incident happened.

The police said Saurav stabbed Kanojiya three times in the stomach and his wife in the chest and stomach. The couple’s cries woke up neighbours, who along with their son, rushed them to a hospital. The son, who is in his 20s, lived on the first floor of their one-storey structure and was asleep at the time of the murder.

5. Pune: Ornaments, Cash Worth Over Rs 40 lakh Stolen From Builder’s Home

Gold, silver and diamond ornaments valued at Rs 38.7 lakh and Rs 3.5 lakh cash were stolen from a bungalow in Bhosalenagar on Range Hills Road in the early hours of Tuesday, 29 October.

The back door of the house was left unlocked by oversight and the thieves might have entered through it, police said. An FIR has been registered at Chaturshrungi police station by Sagar Kale (49), who is a city-based developer.

The valuables were stolen from a wardrobe in the bedroom when Kale and his wife and children were present in the house, police said. The theft is suspected to have taken place between Monday midnight and 11 am on Tuesday, police said.

6. Teen Girl Beats up Man Trying to Rape Her in Mohali

Employing her self-defence training, a 16-year-old girl beat up a 28-year-old man when he tried to rape her in Sohana.

The accused, identified as Sukhwinder Singh, 28, of Sohana village, was arrested. He was produced before a court on Thursday and sent to judicial custody.

The girl, a Class 12 student at a Chandigarh school, told the police that she was standing near the sports complex in Sohana on 28 October, when Singh approached her on a motorcycle. Finding her crying, as she had left home after a fight with her sister, Singh empathetically offered to drop her home.

7. Mumbai Police Hunt for Two for ‘Killing’ Man, ‘Injuring’ Wife

The Malad police are on the lookout for two people who allegedly murdered a man and injured his wife over a petty issue in the wee hours of Thursday, 31 October. Police said the two absconding accused had fought with the deceased, Nandlal Kanojia (50), in the past as well. The local police have registered a case of murder.

An officer said the incident took place at around 4.30 am on Thursday at Baba Singh Chawl near MTNL exchange in Malad. He said Kanojia had an ironing shop and lived behind it with his wife Urmila. A few days ago, Kanojia had a fight with one of the accused, identified as Amit Saurav, for throwing garbage near his shop, the officer added.

8. Man Held for Raping Minor, Sexually Harassing Two, Including 3-year-old

A 50-year-old man accused of raping a minor girl and sexually harassing two other minor girls, was arrested by the police on Wednesday, 30 October.

The accused, Ramesh Chauhan, a labourer, had allegedly lured the victims to his house to commit the crime by offering them cake. The incident allegedly took place on Monday afternoon, when the victims were playing near the residence of the accused. The accused will be produced in the court on Thursday.

“He covered the eyes of two victims aged 3 years and 7 years, while he raped the third victim aged 10. The accused was alone at his home when the incident occurred,” a police officer said.

9. 1-Month-Old Girl’s Body Found in Auto

The body of a one-month-old baby girl, who was murdered and stuffed inside a bag, was found in the back seat of an autorickshaw parked at Qureshi Nagar in Bandra (West) on Thursday, 31 October morning.

The autorickshaw driver, Mohammad Nadim, 27, found the body at 9.30am, after which he contacted the police.

“I have been driving this auto since October 18. I take it out between 9 am and 10pm, and then park it at Qureshi Nagar, where the vehicle’s owner lives. On Thursday morning, I found a bag in the back seat. When I opened it, I found an infant wrapped in clothes,” said Nadim.
