1. Patiala Woman Arrested for Faking Minor Son’s Kidnapping, Extortion Bid

The kidnapping incident of a 12-year-old boy turned out to be fake as police have found the child within 24 hours of his disappearance, in Patiala on Tuesday, 15 October. Police discovered that the boy was hidden by his mother and elder brother.

The mother of the child had planed to blackmail a village resident with kidnapping charges of her child. Police have registered a case against the mother and arrested her.

Earlier, police had registered a case kidnapping case against unknown persons and launched a search operation for the child. The child was later found hidden at a temple.

2. 24,000 Kilos of Banned Crackers Seized, Two Nabbed

Around 24,000 kilograms of banned firecrackers and raw material worth around Rs 50 lakh were seized from a toy-manufacturing factory and a warehouse in the Narela and Bhorgarh industrial areas of outer Delhi just days ahead of Diwali, police said on Tuesday, 15 October.

The 58-year-old factory owner and the driver of a tempo used to transport the banned firecrackers from the unit to the godown were arrested for their alleged involvement in the illegal business despite a blanket ban on the manufacture and sale of conventional firecrackers by the Supreme Court.

The seized firecrackers were meant for supply and sale in Haryana’s Sonepat and adjoining districts during this Diwali, police said.

3. Man Stabs Brother-In-Law at Nallasopara Police Station

The Nallasopara police station in Palghar was witness to violent drama on Monday, 14 October, after a Satara resident stabbed his brother-in-law to death on the police station premises, with several police personnel present.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Akash Kolekar (23), a resident of Nallasopara. The police said Akash’s wife Komal had killed herself on Sunday at their residence, and an accidental death report had been registered in connection with the incident.

4. Two ‘Policemen’ Arrested for Extortion Bid

Two persons who posed as crime branch policemen and tried to settle a financial dispute were arrested by city crime branch in Borivli on Monday, 14 October.

Police recovered a car, forcibly taken from the complainant from the two accused, Pankaj Ashok Gupta (28) Kiran Madi Alagan (26).

Police said Tripuati Pulla, a driver employed with a garment trader in Borivli, had taken a Rs 1.5 lakh loan from his employer. Pulla had told this to his friend, Pankaj, who informed his accomplice, Kiran, who then hatched a conspiracy. “Kiran called up Pulla and claimed he was a crime branch officer from Dahisar.

5. Gang That Extorted Spa Visitors Busted in Gurugram

The police, late Monday night, busted a gang for allegedly honey trapping senior executives who visited spa centres in the city. The six-member gang allegedly made objectionable videos to extort lahks of rupees from its victims, the police said Tuesday, 15 Tuesday.

The suspects were identified as Syed Rahat Ali Zeddin of Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, and Shahna, Alka and Seema of Gurugram. Four members of the gang were arrested from a mall in Sector 23, where they had set up a meeting with the chief accountant of a prominent hotel in the city to take Rs 12 lakh – a sum they agreed to accept after raising an initial demand of Rs 1 crore to settle a false rape case registered against the complainant, the police said.

6. Ghaziabad Law Student Was Choked With a Rope, Post-Mortem Shows

A final-year law student, who was found buried in his former landlord’s basement, was first strangled to death, the post-mortem report has shown. The victim, Pankaj Singh (27), was allegedly choked with a rope and then buried, about three-four days before his body was found by police Monday, 14 October.

Police said they have also recovered the rope allegedly used in the crime from the house of the landlord, Munna Yadav, the prime accused who is yet to be arrested.

7. 58-Year-Old Held for Running Illegal Firecracker Unit

A 58-year-old resident of Punjabi Bagh, who was running an illegal firecracker manufacturing unit in Narela Industrial area, was arrested on Monday night, 14 October.

With around ten days to go for the Diwali festival, the police officials were patrolling in Narela area when they saw a tempo which was carrying the firecrackers.

After questioning the driver, they reached the factory which did not have a fire No Objection Certificate (NOC) or a valid licence. When the police raided it, raw materials worth over Rs 50 lakh along with hundreds of boxes of firecrackers were seized.

8. Robber in Hiding, Cop Poses as Girlfriend to Lure Him Out

Five days ago, three men allegedly robbed a Swift Dzire from a driver working for a cab aggregator after smashing a beer bottle on his head in Mundka. During investigation, police found that one of the accused was in constant touch with his girlfriend, and officers got in touch with her.

Then began the operation to lure Somvir (23) into a trap, during which police took his girlfriend’s phone and got a woman constable to pretend to be her. She then called him to a park in Rohtak on Monday, 14 October, and said she wanted to introduce him to a friend, but he was in for a surprise when he saw police personnel waiting for him.

9. Senior Citizen Robbed of Rs 3L Valuables

A 75-year-old woman was robbed of valuables worth nearly Rs 3 lakh at knifepoint in her Kurla house, police said on Tuesday, 15 October. Four to five men forcibly entered Felomina Agnelo Mendis’s second-floor apartment in Crimson Glory building on Monday afternoon, an official with Vinoba Bhave police station said.

They allegedly threatened Mendis with a knife and told her to hand over the cupboard keys, the officer said. The robbers then locked her up in the bathroom and decamped with cash and gold worth Rs 2.7 lakh.
