The Ministry of External Affairs on Wednesday, 6 March, confirmed that Indian and Pakistani officials will meet on 14 March to finalise the draft agreement for the Kartarpur Corridor, reported The Indian Express. The meeting is scheduled to be held at the Attari-Wagah border on the Indian side.

This comes a day after Pakistan announced that a delegation would visit India on 14 March for talks on the corridor. Earlier, the meeting was scheduled to take place on 13 March.

The foundation stone for the Kartarpur Corridor project was laid in November 2018. The path will connect Dera Baba Nanak in India’s Punjab with the Gurudwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur area of Pakistan’s Narowal district, according to the Scroll. It will allow Indian Sikhs to travel to the pilgrimage site without visas.

The development comes amid tensions between India and Pakistan following the Pulwama terror attack and the subsequent air strike on terror camps in Balakot across the LoC.

India has also proposed that a technical-level discussion on the alignment of the corridor be held on the sidelines of the meeting, the Ministry of External Affairs said, according to the Scroll.

The corridor will be opened on 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev in 2019.
