Three months after quitting his job as an IAS officer, Kannan Gopinathan on Wednesday, 6 November, put out a series of tweets in which he claimed that a chargesheet has been filed against him. He also took on Home Minister Amit Shah and reiterated his take on restrictions in Jammu and Kashmir.

As a matter of fact, Gopinathan had quit over “denial of freedom of expression to the people of Jammu and Kashmir”.

On Wednesday, he tweeted saying that the Home Ministry has issued him a charge sheet via email.

He took a dig at the ministry saying that he does not want to “trouble” them further, referring to “what’s happening between lawyers and police.”

Details of Memorandum & Charge Sheet

In his two subsequent tweets, Gopinathan posted photos of a memorandum sent to him, informing about a departmental inquiry.

He took another opportunity to attack Home Minister Amit Shah by posting a part of the memorandum which asks him not to bring any "political influence". In the tweet, Gopinathan says, "Who is capable of politically influencing @HMOIndia other than @AmitShah."

"But let me try anyway. Sir, please restore fundamental rights in Kashmir," he tweeted.

Gopinathan then went on to list out the charges levelled against him in the charge sheet.

In his next three tweets, he attacked the government for 'targeting' officers and ignoring fundamental rights.

He also mocked Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his line, “Fakeer Aadmi Hu, Jhola Utha Ke Chal Padunga”. (I am an ascetic. I will pack my bags and leave).

In his last tweet in the thread, the former IAS officer posted his reply to the charges framed against him.
