Chennai IPS Officer Caught Cheating Via Bluetooth in UPSC Exam

According to the police, Karim’s wife was dictating the answers via a bluetooth device.

An Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, aspiring to enter the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), was arrested for cheating in the civil services main exam with Bluetooth equipment, a police officer said on 30th October,Monday.

Karim, currently an Assistant Superintendent of Police in Tirunelvelli district has been taken into custody under section 420 (cheating and dishonesty) of the Indian Penal Code.

He had cleared his UPSC exam in 2015 with an All India rank of 112 as reported by The New Indian Express.

According to The New Indian Express, Karim was caught while writing the general studies paper at the Presidency Girls Higher Secondary School in Egmore. Detectives from the Intelligence Bureau (IB) caught him red-handed talking to his wife, Joicy Joy, who is in Hyderabad.

Getting caught in cheating will have a serious effect in his career said the police officer. The Police took Hyderabad’s police help to trace his wife.
