1. 2 Suspected ISIS Terrorists Arrested Near Delhi's Red Fort, Says Police

Two suspected terrorists linked to a Jammu and Kashmir-based affiliate of ISIS have been arrested by the Delhi Police's special cell, a senior police official said on Friday.

The two men, from Kashmir, were arrested on Thursday night from a bus stop near the Red Fort, he added.

The police say they have found advanced weapons, including imported pistols, in the possession of men, identified as Pervez and Jamshed.

Both are residents of the same village in Kashmir's Shopian district.

They are members of Islamic State in Jammu and Kashmir or ISJK and influenced by the ideology of ISIS, the police said.

Both the men are engineering students and were well versed with the areas of Delhi, the police said.

"Delhi was being used as a transit point, they had no plans for Delhi," the police said at a news conference.

2. Delhi Man Tries to Stop Fight over Open Urination, Gets Stabbed to Death

A man was stabbed to death on Friday for intervening in a scuffle over open urination, police said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Atul Kumar Thakur said the incident happened in the Shastri Park area around 4.30 am.

"A man urinating in the open was warned against doing so by the accused in the case. He ignored him and went away by an autorickshaw."

"The accused didn't let him get in. Wasim, who was sitting in the rickshaw already, intervened, and was stabbed to death," the officer said.

Police said the accused is absconding and a case has been filed against him.

3. Villagers Dish out Mob Justice to Kidnappers in Bihar’s Begusarai, Kill Three

Three men were beaten to death by a mob on Friday which caught hold of them while they were trying to kidnap an 11-year-old girl from inside her school in Bihar’s Begusarai district, 140 kms east of the state capital, police said.

Police said that they were allegedly beaten up by the school students, teachers and villagers when they had forcibly entered a newly constructed primary school at Chhaurahi, to abduct a girl student.

The incident took place at about 10.30 am when four men on two motorcycles reached the primary school in the crime-prone district and started looking for the girl. When headmistress of the school, Neema Kumari informed them that the girl was absent from the school, one of the miscreants pulled out a pistol, seeing which Kumari fainted and collapsed. Panic-stricken students then started screaming and running helter skelter.

A group of women working at a nearby agriculture field reached the school premises and surrounded the criminals. Other villagers also reached the spot and dragged the three criminals out of the school and thrashed them mercilessly.

4. Man Held for Raping 9-Year-Old Girl in Greater Noida, Another Detained in Separate Case

In two separate incidences, the police arrested a 25-year-old man for allegedly raping a nine-year-old girl in Jewar and detained another for questioning in the alleged rape of a 13-year-old girl in Jarcha of Greater Noida, on Thursday, 6 September.

In the first instance, one Lokesh Kumar Sharma, a resident of Vandana Enclave in Khoda colony of Ghaziabad, was arrested by a team of Knowledge Park police station, a day after the girl identified him as the culprit.

The accused, who works in a garment shop in New Delhi’s Mayur Vihar, was on his way to a relative’s place in Khairpur village when he abducted the girl while she was playing near her house in a Surajpur based village of Greater Noida.

“Sharma alias Sonu, on Thursday morning, allegedly approached the girl and lured her to his motorcycle on the pretext of offering her a ride on Thursday morning. He then allegedly took her to a toll plaza in Jewar and raped her at a remote location in Khairpur village. We arrested him after the victim identified him as the culprit,” Vineet Jaiswal, superintendent of police (rural), said.

5. West Bengal: Two Arrested for ‘Accepting’ Bribe

Two persons were arrested for allegedly accepting bribe in the state secretariat, Nabanna, on Friday, 7 September, police sources said.

Sources said they were arrested while accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a woman who was there to receive an appointment letter on compassionate grounds.

Those arrested has been identified as Pratap Chanra Majumdar, a government clerk and Debasish Barua, a police constable.

On the basis of the information provided by the woman, plainclothes officers nabbed the two accused.

6. Tailor Commits Suicide in Delhi After Shop Was Shut in Sealing Drive

A 35-year-old tailor, reeling under a financial crisis after his owner's shop was sealed in the ongoing sealing drive by civic authorities, allegedly committed suicide in northwest Delhi's Keshawpuram area on Thursday, 6 September.

The deceased, identified as Shiv Kumar, was a resident of Bihar. He was reportedly depressed as he had not received his salary since a few months. He worked for a tailor situated in the Jai Mata Market in the Trinagar area, which had been sealed by authorities acting on the Supreme Court order.

The police recovered a suicide note from him, which said he ended his life because he wasn't paid.

Many traders in the national capital have suffered because of the sealing drive being carried out, and many have expressed anger over the incident as well.

Local traders have expressed their frustration over the apex court-appointed monitoring committee's actions. Local leaders of the Congress, and husbands of the local BJP councillor reached the area on Thursday after hearing of the suicide.

7. Punjab Panchayat Poll: Shots Fired, 3 Hurt on Last Day of Filing Nomination

Two policemen and another man suffered gunshot injuries Friday as violence marred the last day for filing nominations for the panchayat polls in Punjab.

The policemen were hurt when an unidentified person fired gunshots during the filing of papers for zila parishad and panchayat samiti elections outside the SDM's office in Patti near Tarn Taran. In another incident at Dharamkot near Moga, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and Congress supporters clashed. In Chandigarh, SAD claimed its candidates were prevented from filing nomination papers and asked the state election commission to extend the date for filing the papers.

The elections will be held on September 19. The police said the situation took an ugly turn in Patti when Akali Dal candidates tried to enter the sub divisional magistrate's office along with their supporters to file their nomination papers.

8. Grandson, 4 Friends Held for Elderly Man’s Murder

Five people including the grandson of the senior citizen, who was found dead near his flat on Tuesday morning, were arrested on Thursday in connection with the murder.

Aja Lama (78) was found stabbed to death in the staircase of Sant Niwas building on Shahid Bhagat Singh Marg.

“While scanning CCTV footage, we saw some people had consistently been visiting the vicinity of the building for several days in a row. A study of their movements indicated that they might have been conducting a recce and we started exploring this angle,” an officer at MRA Marg police station said.

The police then made stills of the footage capturing the suspects and showed it to people in and around the building.

Some of them said they had seen one of the men come to the building along with Lama’s grandson Dorji Lama (29), who stays in Dombivli.
