1. Security Guard Found Murdered in Powai Residential Complex

A 22-year-old security guard was found dead with his throat slit inside the parking lot of a residential complex in Tunga area of Mumbai's Powai on Sunday, police said.

Ankit Deviprasad Singh was working as security guard of Lodha Supreme residential complex for the past couple of weeks, an official said.

"We are going through the CCTV network of the complex as well as the vicinity. He may have been murdered by someone known to him. Nothing is missing from the spot where he was found with his throat slit," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone X) Ankit Goyal.

Powai police has registered a case of murder, the DCP added.

2. Accused in Shootout-Loot Outside MP Bank Held After Encounter

A man accused of looting Rs 4.5 lakh after shooting at a gas agency manager outside a bank in Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh was arrested following an encounter with police on Sunday morning, an official said.

Motorcycle-borne men had shot at and injured a gas agency manager outside a bank at City Centre here and looted Rs 4.5 lakh on 23 October, prompting police to launch a manhunt for the culprits.

Acting on information provided by one of the accused arrested on Saturday night, identified as Dharmendra Jat, a police team cornered Naveen Sharma on Bijauli Highway while he was looking to flee the city, said Gwalior Superintendent of Police Navneet Bhasin.

3. AC Mechanic Held for Stealing Customers' Mobile Phones

A 21-year-old air-conditioner (AC) mechanic has been arrested for allegedly stealing expensive mobile phones of his customers, police said on Sunday.

The accused was identified as Sohel Sarfaraz Sheikh, police said.

Sheikh is a habitual offender. He used to steal the phones of the people, whose houses he visited for repairing ACs, an official of Kherwadi police station said.

"One person approached the police with a complaint that he lost his expensive phone after Sohel visited his place for repairing an AC. After the complaint, police checked the CCTV footage, in which Sohel was spotted making suspicious movements while stepping out of the building," the official said.

4. Two Held for Selling Firecrackers in Delhi

A father-son duo were arrested for allegedly storing and selling banned firecrackers in outer Delhi's Mangolpuri area, police said on Sunday.

Over 500 kg of banned firecrackers were seized from Pawan Kumar (55) and Vipin Kumar (32), residents of Mangolpuri, police said.

A special drive has been launched by the Delhi police to stop carrying, keeping or selling of banned firecrackers in view of directions issued by the National Green Tribunal.

On Friday night, police said they received information about selling and storage of banned firecrackers at "Balaji Firecrackers" in C-Block Mangolpuri.

5. Mephedrone Worth Rs 3.5 Crore Seized from Rajdhani Express

Two persons were held from a Mumbai-bound train in Surat railway station in Gujarat with 7.5 kilogrammes of mephedrone, a synthetic stimulant drug, worth Rs 3.5 crore in the illicit market, a DRI official said on Sunday.

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence official said a team, acting on a tip-off, boarded the Mumbai-bound Rajdhani Express on Saturday morning and made the seizure and arrests.

"The contraband, weighing 7.5 kg and worth Rs 3.5 crore, was concealed in a bag. The two arrested persons hail from Haryana, had boarded the train in Delhi, and were on their way to deliver the mephedrone to a person in Mumbai," he said.

6. DRI Seizes Gold Worth Rs 2.5 Crore in Bengal, Four Held

In two separate operations, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized 6 kg smuggled gold valued at Rs 2.5 crore from Siliguri and Howrah in West Bengal and arrested four persons, a statement issued by the agency here said.

Acting on a tip-off, the DRI sleuths arrested Sanju Roy at New Jalpaiguri station in Cooch Behar district on 23 October and recovered 1.5 kg of smuggled gold from his possession, it said.

Based on the inputs provided by Roy during interrogation, the agency, on the same day, apprehended his aide Apu Debnath from a Kolkata-bound bus at Siliguri and seized another 1.5 kg of gold from him.

7. One Held for Killing Boy in Delhi

A man has been arrested for allegedly killing a 15-year-old boy in west Delhi, police said on Sunday.

Devender, a resident of Raghubir Nagar, had gone to play with his friends after school on Friday, but did not return home till 10 pm, according to a missing complaint by his elder brother.

On the same day, Devender's body was recovered in Khylal area and there were sharp injury marks on the neck, the police said.

During investigation, it was found that teenager was last seen with a man who used to live in the same area. The suspect, Sanat (25), was arrested from his house, an officer said.

8. Pune: GRP Arrests Drug Smuggler, Seizes Rs 22.74 Lakh Contraband

The Government Railway Police (GRP) has arrested a drug smuggler from Pune station and seized 7.6 kg charas worth Rs 22.74 lakh. The contraband, police said, was being smuggled into the city and was to be sold to youth.

According to Pune GRP officials, during a routine patrol, a team of GRP found a person loitering around ‘Ghoda Siding Running Room’ at Pune station. When the police questioned, and subsequently detained him they found 7.6 kg charas on the man. They have identified the accused as Chamanlal Soni (34), a resident of Kullu in Himachal Pradesh.
