1. Delhi Police Seize 130 kg Heroin in Navi Mumbai Warehouse
Delhi Police officials on Friday found 130kg of heroin from a cargo container at a customs warehouse in Navi Mumbai, the third major recovery of the contraband being smuggled in from an Afghanistan-based syndicate busted last week.
The police also announced the arrests of an Afghan national and a man from Bulandshahr who is believed to have overseen the distribution within India.
The operation is one of the biggest cartels operating in the country – in all, 330 kg of heroin valued at Rs 1,300 crore has been found from three raids and 10 men arrested.
“The drug was transported as a basil seed consignment. From Islam Qila in Afghanistan’s Herat the drug was brought to Mumbai via Bandar Abbas port in Iran,” said DCP, Manishi Chandra.

2. Jaipur: Student Faces Molestation Bid in Private Cab, Two Held
Jaipur police have arrested two men, including a driver from a private cab service, for allegedly molesting a 21-year-old woman after she booked a ride to her home in the early hours of Friday, 26 July.
According to police, the woman fought off the attacker and jumped off the moving vehicle. She then reached the nearest police station and lodged a complaint.
“The woman, who is a college student and also works as a model, had booked a cab to her home in Jaipur after attending a party after 1.30 am. When she entered the cab, she saw that apart from the driver, another person was sitting in the front seat of the cab. Later, that person came to sit on the rear seat beside her,” said Sub-Inspector Kamlesh Kumar from the Jawahar Circle police station.

3. Harassed Every Day, Manesar Schoolgirls Approach Court
On 12 July, a group of girls went to school and found the locks of their classroom broken. Through the slit in the door, they found the tables and chairs turned upside down, the maps of Haryana and India smeared with black paint and the posters they had painted a few days earlier torn.
This was at the Government Girls Senior School in Manesar, where a trigonometry question seems much easier for students than walking to school or going out to play. Outside their building, there is no security for the 600 girls who study here and face teasing and harassment regularly. It forced five students to move the Punjab and Haryana high court this week for their safety. The school lacks guards so there is nobody to stop outsiders from entering the compound.

4. Two Suspected Thieves Lynched in Delhi’s Adarsh Nagar, Bawana
A 16-year-old boy was beaten to death in north-west Delhi’s Adarsh Nagar on Friday, 26 July, after he was allegedly caught trying to burgle a house in the neighbourhood, police said.
The assault took place in the morning and the boy was taken to a hospital where he succumbed to injuries by evening, Vijayanta Arya, deputy commissioner of police (north-west), said.
This is the second such incident in the outer limits of Delhi in the last three days, a 21-year-old man was beaten to death by a husband and wife in nearby Bawana in the early hours of Tuesday.

5. Delhi: Seven Promised Airport Jobs, Duped Thousands
Seven people were arrested for allegedly duping more than a thousand people by promising them jobs in the Airport Authority of India (AAI). The gang allegedly cheated people of Rs 2.5 crore. A case has been registered under IPC sections 419,420, 468, 34 and 120B.
The complainant, Rajat Verma (21), who hails from Lucknow, said: “I was searching for a job and came across an ad in a Hindi daily offering a job at AAI. I called the number mentioned. A woman answered and told me to mail all my documents and certificates. A man then called and told me to transfer Rs 2,000 for registration. They assured me a job as a TC at the IGI airport on a monthly salary of Rs 45,000. They later asked me for Rs 15,000 as security, which I paid. They promised me a job letter, but called again and asked for Rs 35,000. My parents refused to pay and inquired about the job. Soon, we found the ad was fake. I tried calling the employers, but they didn’t take any calls.”

6. Factory to Dismantle Stolen Vehicles Busted, 4 Arrested
A vehicle dismantling factory at Jamia Nagar was busted during a raid on Thursday, 25 July. Those running it could dismantle a bike within an hour and a car in three hours. It was being operated by a gang of thieves who would lift vehicles from south Delhi colonies at night, drive them to the factory, and dismantle them. So, by the time an owner realised his ride had been stolen, it would already be broken down to pieces.
Earlier, vehicle thieves would go to Sotiganj near Meerut to dismantle vehicles. But it would take much longer there. This factory was offering a quicker alter native.

7. Delhi: Woman Stabbed to Death by Man Who Was Stalking Her
A 21-year-old woman was on Friday, 26 July, stabbed to death, allegedly by her 25-year-old neighbour who was stalking her, police said.
The woman was stabbed in South East Delhi’s Bhogal, said DCP (South East) Chinmoy Biswal.
“The woman worked as a domestic help in Bhogal and was on her way back home to Sarai Kale Khan when the accused showed up and stabbed her,” said Biswal.

8. Cable Guy Tries to Murder Bizman for Affair with Wife
On the evening of 23 July, a 40-year-old businessman was having dinner with his family when he heard a gunshot outside his house in west Delhi’s Hari Nagar. The family members rushed out and were shell-shocked to see that a bullet had pierced through a windowpane and ricocheted off the wall.
When police arrived, the businessman, Bhargav (name changed), realised that he had escaped death by a few centimetres with the bullet hitting the window he was seated behind. An FIR was registered and investigation initiated, but police struggled to get leads. They hit a dead end with no possible motives emerging in the interviews with the victim.

9. Sacked Trainer Held for Shooting at Gym Owner
A day after the owner of a gymnasium was shot and injured in north Delhi’s Civil Lines, the police have arrested a former trainer of the same gym, and his juvenile friend, for the attack. Nupur Prasad, deputy commissioner of police (north), identified the arrested trainer as 35-year-old Lalit Kumar and said he attacked the gym owner, Rahul Gupta, as a revenge for being terminated from service earlier this month.
“Kumar is a diploma holder and a certified gym-trainer. For the past five years, he had been working as a trainer at a gym owned by Gupta. But in recent weeks, Gupta had been making advances towards a woman trainer at the same gym,” Prasad said.
