1. To Frame Husband of IAS Officer He Loved, CISF Commandant 'Planted Drugs', Arrested
A senior commandant of the CISF posted as a Director in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA)’s Bureau of Security was arrested Thursday, 10 October for allegedly planting 550 grams of charas inside a car owned by the husband of an IAS officer posted in Rajasthan.
Delhi Police said that CISF senior commandant Ranjan Pratap Singh (45) met the IAS officer while both prepared for the civil services examination around 20 years ago, and in 2000, both attended a four-month foundation course at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Uttarakhand.

2. Chennai Woman Kills Daughter by Slitting Neck, Attempts to Kill Self With Son
The deceased was identified as Dhanushya, while her mother Pavithra, 32, and her three-year-old brother Padhmesh have been admitted to different hospitals in the city. Police said Pavithra left her home in Bengaluru following a quarrel with her husband Chandrasekar and reached the city by bus.
She then took her kids to the Marina. Around 7 pm, a few beach-goers heard cries of children behind the Vivekananda statue. They found a woman slitting her neck with a razor blade and two children bleeding beside her.
They immediately called for an ambulance and took them all to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared Dhanushya dead on arrival. The girl suffered deep injuries to the neck.

3. 108 Mobile Phones Recovered From 4 Pickpockets
Four members of an organised gang of pickpockets were arrested on Wednesday night, 9 October and 108 stolen mobile phones were recovered from them, the police said on Thursday. The gang used to target passengers travelling on Delhi Transport Corporation buses in south Delhi, the police said.
The police have also recovered two country-made pistols, two button-activated knives, four surgical blades and an auto-rickshaw, which they used during the crimes, from the suspects. The four men were identified as Vinod alias Balli, 32, kingpin of the gang, and his associates — Jeetu, 23, Roshan, 26, and Rajesh, 33 — all residents of Delhi.
One policeman was injured while catching the suspects, the police said, adding that the mobile phones were stolen in less than three months.

4. One Held for Murder of Journalist in Uttar Pradesh
A 55-year-old journalist working for a Hindi daily was allegedly murdered by two neighbours in Uttar Pradesh’s Kushinagar district on Thursday, 10 October.
One of the accused, Ramgopal Singh, has been arrested; the other, Tej Pratap Singh, is absconding, police said.
Police said the incident took place in the morning when the journalist, Radheyshyam Sharma, was on way to a private girls’ intermediate college, where he also used to teach.
Police suspect he was killed over a personal vendetta.

5. Youth Killed, Three Injured in Knife Attack
A youth was killed when he stepped in to save a woman being attacked with a knife by her neighbour at Bainganwadi in Shivaji Nagar on Thursday afternoon, 10 October.
Neighbours said Arvind Yadav (30) attacked Jayesh Gupta when locals tried to stop him. The youth, who sustained severe injuries and was bleeding profusely, was rushed to hospital, where he died. Locals had by then caught Yadav and informed Shivaji Nagar police. Police said they were questioning Yadav on his motive.

6. Cow 'Vigilante' Shot at by Suspected Cow Smugglers in Gurugram’s Sector 10
A 26-year-old man, member of a cow protection group, was shot at when he and three other 'volunteers' were chasing suspected cow smugglers in Sector 10 on Thursday. Police said that the man sustained a gunshot wound to his chest and is undergoing treatment at Medanta Hospital in Sector 38.
Mohit alias Monu, the victim, a resident of Manesar, identifies himself as a cow vigilante, the police said. He is also the district convener of Bajrang Dal.
According to the police, the chase lasted for around 40 minutes.

7. Kerala Youth Sets 17-Year-Old Girl Ablaze, Succumbs to Injuries
A 17-year-old girl from Ernakulam district was burned alive by a youth after she rejected his proposal, police said on Thursday, 10 October. The youth also died after he sustained serious burns. This is the fourth such incident in Kerala this year.
The alleged assailant was a distant relative of the girl.
According to the police, the youth arrived at the girl’s house after Wednesday midnight and wanted to meet her. When the girl came out of the house, the youth doused her with petrol and set her on fire in front of her parents and sister. The youth, who had already doused himself with petrol, also sustained burns.
While the girl died on the spot, the youth succumbed later in a hospital. The girl’s father was also injured while trying to save her.

8. Man Arrested for Duping People on Pretext of Jobs
A 57-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly duping people on the pretext of getting them jobs in Australia, the police said.
The accused has been identified as DH John Paul, a resident of Bengaluru, they said.
The matter came to light after the police received a joint complaint from five people alleging that they were duped by the accused of a total of Rs 28.5 lakh on the pretext of getting them placed in Australia.

9. Man Accused of Rape Nabbed From IGI Airport
A 30-year-old man accused of rape was arrested from Delhi airport when he was minutes away from fleeing the country on Wednesday, 9 October. Police said a woman had alleged that the man had been raping her over the past five years on the pretext of marriage in outer Delhi’s Nihal Vihar.
According to the police, on 3 October, they received a complaint from a 29-year-old woman, a sports teacher in Mumbai, in which she had alleged that she had met the man, a sports referee, in September 2014. She said they became friends and later in December 2014 planned a trip to Nainital in Uttarakhand.
